Distance Learners
CHANGE TO AFTER SCHOOL TESTING FOR AP & IB COURSES
Wednesdays from 2:30pm to 4pm in the cafeteria
Thursdays from 4:30pm to 5:30pm in the cafeteria

Distance Learners and EXCEL Time
Distance Learners are NOT allowed on campus for EXCEL time to attend club meetings or teacher help sessions. Please talk to the teacher about attending both through a live conference.

ZOOM for live conferences
The district is switching to ZOOM for live conferences through Schoology. We are having an issue with students gaining access to the zoom conferences, if they have changed their primary email in HAC from their s# email. The primary email should NOT be changed .

Students who are participating in the distrance learning option must...
  • Check Schoology updates for each course daily.
  • Participate in live conferences each period.
  • Have access to a computer with a working camera and microphone.
  • Have access to a printer.

Students: Download the weekly agenda, so if Schoology goes down you have the agenda for that period on your computer already.

Cameras need to be turned on when directed by the teacher to do so. Some students are logging in and since their camera is off are walking away from their computer. The teacher knows this when they ask the distance learner a question and there is no response. Students must participate in whatever is planned by the teacher that day. Teachers have been asked to email home for parent support and if the issue continues, the student will be referred to a dean.

SCHOOLOGY ISSUES
If you or your student are having Schoology issues, please click on this link and bookmark it. This provides real-time data on any issues Schoology might be having. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on “Schoology Status History” for updates.

October is Financial Aid Month!
On October 1st, the Bright Futures and FAFSA applications opened up for students who plan to attend college in the 21-22 school year. During the month of October, Counselors will be working hard to help all of our seniors get the financial resources that they need for college. Please mark your calendars for the special events listed below:

Senior Individual Appointments:
Counselors are wrapping up meeting with seniors individually. We are making sure that each student knows exactly what they have remaining for graduation and that they are properly enrolled in those courses. We are also discussing with each student what their plan for after high school is and make sure that they know what their next steps are to accomplish those goals. Students that have not met with their counselor yet should reach out to connect with their counselor to schedule a time.

Senior College Applications:
Students should continue working on their college applications if they have not already been submitted. There are several deadlines that are coming up between now and November 1st . If your test scores are not where you want them to be, now is the time to register for the next SAT and ACT. You can register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.org and the ACT at www.actstudent.org .

MEDIA CENTER ACCESS
The media center IS NOW OPEN for student access. Students MUST wear a mask to be in the media center. This is to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff in the media center.
Any student not wearing a mask,or refusing to wear one will be asked to leave. Students are also able to come to the media center for their lunch session with the following restrictions:
  1. They MUST have a MC Lunch pass each day. We begin to hand them out at 8:45 a.m. and only allow 50 passes per lunch period each day until we run out. Once passes are all gone, no more students will be able to come to the Media center for lunch. Lunch passes are different colors every day and date stamped.
  2. Students who have a MC Lunch pass, MUST go to the cafeteria FIRST to buy their lunch then come to the media center.
  3. Students can only eat on the tile floor in the café section. As soon as they are done eating, they are being asked to move onto the media center floor to allow other students who still need to eat.
  4. On EXCEL Wednesdays, students MUST come get a MC pass for Excel A or B or both. They will not be allowed to enter the media center during EXCEL days without a pass.

MEDIA CENTER DONATIONS
Our media center is quite a busy hub of student learning and gathering. Social distancing and mask wearing are definitely a MUST for anyone entering the media center. But we are also asking for some supply donations to help get us through the school year because we go through these items quickly. If you can donate any of the following items that we use daily in the media center, we would be MOST grateful:
·              Napkins
·              Paper towel rolls
·              Clorox/Lysol wipes
·              Kleenex
·              Plastic spoons/forks
