MEETING UPDATE

There will not be a board meeting next week. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23 at 10 a.m.

Citizens who wish to provide public comment may dial in by phone at the published time by calling toll-free 888-475-4499 or 877-853-5257 and entering the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

The BOCC received a COVID-19 update from Calvert County Health Officer Dr. Laurence Polsky during the March 9 board meeting.

Dr. Polsky, who directs the local health department as an agent of Maryland State Government, provided updates to the BOCC on testing, positivity rates and vaccination efforts in Calvert County.

PRE-REGISTER FOR THE COVID-19 VACCINE ONLINE
Calvert County residents age 18 and older who wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccination may pre-register online.

PRE-REGISTER OVER THE PHONE
A call center is also available to assist Calvert County residents who wish to pre-register for the vaccination over the phone. For assistance, residents may call 410-535-0218, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Residents are reminded not to share appointment scheduling links and to keep in mind that if you share your link, you are taking a vaccine away from someone else and may be turned away. You may visit the COVID-19 virtual resource center for answers to frequently asked questions. Please contact your primary care physician for any health questions related to the vaccine. 

Visit Maryland's vaccine portal to locate additional vaccine clinics near you. If you are vaccinated through one of these clinics, please remove your name from the Calvert County Government pre-registry by calling 410-535-0218.
Calvert County Following Maryland Actions to
Ease Certain COVID-19 Mitigation Measures
The BOCC announces that Calvert County will follow Gov. Larry Hogan’s action to ease certain COVID-19 mitigation measures, effective Friday, March 12, 2021 at 5 p.m. Masking, physical distancing and other public health protocols will remain in place.
 
Businesses must maintain strict attention to health guidance, distancing and sanitation measures. Local businesses and citizens are encouraged to review the state guidelines online.
 
The Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation is working closely with the Calvert County Health Department to safely increase capacity at pools and facilities in compliance with state social distancing guidelines. At this time, parks and indoor facilities will maintain current capacity limits until further notice. Citizens are reminded to continue following recommended precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 while at Calvert County parks.
 
Calvert County Government is open; however, buildings remain closed to the public. Visit the Calvert County website for more information.
All Calvert County parks return to their normal summer hours Saturday, March 13, 2021. The summer hours of operation for Dunkirk District Park, Hallowing Point Park and Cove Point Park are 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. through mid-November. Other park hours vary based on location and amenities. Park hours are posted at the entrance of each county park or available online.
Calvert County Parks & Recreation's (CCPR) Therapeutic Recreation Services team will hold its annual Summer Camp Duck Race virtually this year. The race will be prerecorded at the Hall Aquatic Center March 27 and posted with the results on the CCPR Facebook page so followers can join in on the quacking good time!

Citizens are invited to sponsor a duck which will race down the pool. If your duck is the first to cross the finish line, you get a prize. Funds collected from duck sponsorship help provide financial assistance for individuals with disabilities to offset the cost of summer camp. Regular ducks are $5 and deluxe ducks are $6 each.

On April 17, the Calvert County Commission for Women and Calvert Library will host their 18th annual Women of the World celebration and awards event, held virtually this year. This year's theme is Women Breaking Barriers and will honor a dozen leading women in Calvert County. Registration is required by April 16. The deadline to apply for rental relief is approaching. Citizens must submit their applications before March 15, 2021 to be considered for aid. The relief fund is meant to provide up to six months of financial relief to help tenants and homeowners avoid eviction and foreclosure during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Calvert County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, will host a free paper shredding event for residents on Saturday, March 20 at the Appeal Landfill located at 401 Sweetwater Road in Lusby. All paper must be removed from plastic bags and cardboard boxes prior to shredding. Paper clips and staples are acceptable; however, binders and binder clips are not. Participating residents are required to wear face masks and practice safe social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Businesses are not permitted to participate in this event.
