Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time - September 27, 2020
On Mission Co-Operation and More!
Dear Friends,

Greetings form Fr. Saju!

Archbishop Hélder Câmara said, "When we are dreaming alone it is only a dream. When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality." As Christians, we are called to dream with others. Dreaming with others is the start of communion, as opposed to division and fragmentation. I like to bring to your attention two things that will help facilitate dreaming with others in the next couple of weeks.

Mission Cooperation Plan 2020 - Diocese of Kohima:

Every year, each parish in the Diocese of San Jose is assigned a mission diocese or organization to come and share their missionary story. The missionary and the people of the mission enrich us by sharing their witness story and prayers. We in turn, support them with our prayers and a second collection. Despite the tremendous impact from the current pandemic, our Diocese is committed to supporting the work of mission dioceses or organization through the Mission Co-op special collection.

The mission diocese that has been assigned for our parish's support is the Diocese of Kohima, in North Eastern India. The bishop of the Diocese, Bishop James Thoppil is personally known to me. The diocese Kohima covers the entire state of Nagaland in India which ministers to various indigenous tribes.

This year because of the pandemic, the appeal will be done online. A mission appeal video message by Bishop Thoppil can be viewed at this link - CLICK HERE. We request you to send in or drop off the second collection for the mission by October 11. Please write on the envelop or on the memo of the check "Mission Co-Op."

Updating Contact Information of All Parishioners:

This is a request from the heart to all parishioners. As we connect, support and build community during this pandemic, it is very important that we have the correct contact information for each household. A sizable number of parishioners' phone numbers, emails, and addresses require updating. However, we cannot do this without your help. I request you to take a minute to click on this link and provide your mailing address, email, and phone number. Your contact information is confidential and is used to stay in touch with you, especially during these physically distant times.

With gratitude, love and prayers,

Fr. Saju Joseph

FAITH IN ACTION
 VOTING WITH A CATHOLIC CONSCIENCE

Our Catholic faith teaches that we have a moral responsibility to vote for the good of the community. Catholic social justice teachings help us discern who will lead our country truthfully and justly. Catholics are called to defend, support, and protect the sacredness of all human life. We cannot be single issues voters. In addition to abortion, euthanasia and the death penalty, the sacred issues that Pope Francis asks us to bring into the voting booth include protecting people in poverty, the elderly, migrants, the environment and rejecting racism. Before we cast our vote, we pray for the wisdom to choose a candidate that will promote healing, equality, peace and prosperity for all.
