Shared by Fielden and Janet Allison:

MISSION is God’s action to reconcile the sinful world back to Himself. John 3:16 “…God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him would...have eternal life.”

MISSIONS is the church’s action to fulfill God’s mission. 2 Cor. 5:19b-20 “…And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”

MISSIONARY is one sent out by the church [on their behalf] to do the mission of God.   The word is not in scripture but has the same meaning as apostle (Grk-apostello), one sent on a mission with a specific purpose.

“Any church not involved in the Great Commission has forfeited its Biblical right to exist.” Oswald J. Smith

“The work of the church is not survival. She exists to fulfill the Great Commission.”
