GENERAL
HUNGRY STUDENTS ALERT
Now through winter break, the cafeteria is offering curbside pickup for FREE breakfast and lunch every school day from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. This program is open to any student 18 and under and recipients do not need to be enrolled in PVPUSD. No pre-order is required. All meals include an entrée, choice of milk and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Menus are at pvpusdschoolnutrition.net.
 
SUBSCRIBE TO "THE PEN"
If you want to stay on top of school and community news, then a subscription to Pen's newspaper is a must. For only $25 a year, you will receive a monthly issue in the mail. Fill out this form, include your payment (cash or check) made out to PVPHS Newspaper with 2020-2021 newspaper subscription in the check's memo line. Bring your subscription to Pen and put it in Mrs. DeMeyer's mailbox in the Hawthorne Office. Or you can mail checks only to PVPHS: Attention Jamie DeMeyer. ONLINE S.A.T. PREP BOOTCAMP
It's that time of year when DB Academics offers their SAT Bootcamp to help students learn the best test-taking strategies, techniques and problem solving approaches. This is also a fund raiser for our PTSA. The bootcamp will be online via Zoom TOMORROW, Sept. 26 from 9:00 to 11:00 am and 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and again on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. SENIOR SUNRISE VIDEO
Seniors! Capture your goal for your senior year on video and be part of the Senior Sunrise Video. Film yourself horizontally and describe one goal you would like to achieve before you graduate. Start with "My goal for senior year is ------ (fill in the blank) and keep it 10 seconds or less. Your goal doesn't have to be school related; it may be something fun like learning how to surf! Submit your video to [email protected] by TODAY at midnight.

If you are a prospective member for National Honor Society, remember that your candidate information package and supporting evidence must be submitted via TEAMS no later than Thursday, Oct. 1 by 3:00 pm. Late packets not accepted.
 
SENIOR PHOTOS
PSS Imaging will be on campus TODAY through Thursday, Oct. 8 to photograph those seniors who have made an appointment. Contact PSS Imaging at (714) 630-7785 or (714) 822-5412 to schedule an appointment. Don't delay-after Oct. 8, you have to go to the studio in Anaheim for pictures.

STUDENT TUTORS NEEDED
You can help PVPUSD students with their academic hurdles and earn money at the same time. Fill out the form and email it to Mrs. Juge at [email protected]. There will be a tutor list here at Pen and it will also be provided to other schools in the District as well.

COLLEGE CAREER CENTER
COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE SERIES
The next topic for the College Knowledge Series will be Out of State Public Colleges presented by James Gilbey of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6:30 pm. Mr. Gilbrey will cover the benefits of going to an out of state college, the myths and realities of the experience, in addition to the cost. Registration is required and may be done here. Deadline to register is Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 10 am. The link will be sent to registrants on Sept. 29 in the afternoon.
 
The College Knowledge Series continues on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 6:00 pm with How to Complete the FARSA with a detailed presentation by Jessica Medina of USC. FARSA opens on Oct. 1. Registration is required by Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 5:00 pm and may be done here. The link will be sent to registrants on Wednesday in the afternoon.
 
VIRTUAL COLLEGE REP VISITS
The CCC has scheduled virtual college visits through November. Two to three schools will be combined per visit and all meetings are in conjunction with PVHS. You must register on Naviance by 3:00 pm the before the event in order to attend. Teacher permission for visits scheduled during class time must be obtained by the Friday before the visit. Included in this coming week's visits are the University of Miami; University of Tampa; Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Indiana University; Dartmouth; Chapman; University of Toronto; Seton Hall; UC Santa Barbara; and UC San Diego.
