Words of Encouragement
from our Parishioners, the Holmes Family

August 20, 2020
Greetings from Bob, Tracee, Talbot, Peyton and Paige Holmes!

The Church of St. Michael & St. George became our church home in the early 70s when Bob’s mom, Sandy, joined the church. Bob was part of the 1976 confirmation class, and in 1990 Tracee and Bob were married at CSMSG by the Rev. Fred Barbee. Their daughters (now 22, 20 and 20) were baptized and confirmed here.

Like so many, this pandemic brought some disappointments for our family. Our girls came home from college to finish their semesters online. Talbot’s college graduation celebration was postponed until May 2021, and our niece had to cancel her June wedding. It’s been sad to miss out on some of life’s celebrations.

The pandemic brought some unexpected joys as well. Slowing down and savoring time together was something we didn’t see coming. We’ve cooked together, had themed-dinners, played a lot of corn hole and pickleball in our backyard. We completed a wide range of crafts from friendship bracelets to painting to needle pointing, making palm crosses for Palm Sunday, and flower arranging via Zoom. We’ve been given the gift of time with our daughters, and that is truly a blessing.

We look forward to the time when we can all be back together worshiping in our beloved Church of St. Michael & St. George. What a joyous time that will be!
