Fall Dining Update and Island House Opening

Now that the Island House renovations are nearing their conclusion, we wanted to update the members on our dining plans going forward.  Thank you all who filled out the dining survey that was sent out recently, that data was crucial in our planning process.

  • The Nest will be closed during the following date/times due to previously booked member weddings. We will offer food and beverage service on the Golf Terrace these days.
    • o   Friday, October 30th - Nest closes at 1:00pm
    • o   Saturday, October 31st - Nest closed all day
    • o   Friday, November 6th - Nest closes at 3:00pm
  • Bohicket Lounge and Palmetto Room will open Thursday, November 19th.
  • We will be accepting reservations for the Palmetto Room and new Ashley Room (with the fireplace) on Tuesday, November 3rd, reservation number is 843-768-2571.
  • Palmetto Room will be open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch from 11:00am - 3:00pm (Sunday Brunch, 10am-2pm) and dinner from 5:00pm - 9:00pm.
  • Bohicket Lounge will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00am - 9:00pm.
    • o   We ask that you refrain from congregation around the bar and utilize the high-top and soft seating areas.
  • The Ashley Room will be available for reservations of 6-8 at either 5:30pm or 7:30pm.  We will be able to seat up to 12 in the Ashley Room once COVID restrictions are lifted.

While dining capacity restrictions have eased recently, we will continue to follow guidelines in regard to table distancing, table size, and staff protocols.  To allow for maximum possible capacity, we will be using the Deveaux Room as overflow seating from the Palmetto Room and for previously booked events.

We look forward to being able to show off the final piece of the New Horizons Plan and showcase the new dining experiences we will be able to offer at the Island House.

'TIS THE SEASON
Once again the Mt. Zion Holiday Fund Committee is seeking your help to place smiles on the faces of Mt. Zion children. The counselor and teachers at Mt. Zion Elementary School are already identifying families who are in most need of our support. The funds that we raise will be used to buy clothes, shoes, toys and books for each child. Every family is also given a gift certificate for food for their holiday meal.
Since 2007, your contributions have helped more than 40 families and over 90 children. The gifts we are able to provide are often the only ones the children receive.
Checks made out to Mt. Zion Holiday Fund may be mailed to Charlotte Moran, 2530 The Bent Twig, Seabrook Island, South Carolina 29455, 843-768-3083. Donations may also be given to Marilyn Armstrong, 843-768-9252, Paula Adamson, 843-768-4881, Flo Gilson, 678-643-5755, or Pat Greubel, 843-725-8926, or they can be dropped off at the Racquet Club Pro Shop or Golf Pro Shop on Seabrook Island.

We've introduced a new "all day" Mixed Couples league on Sundays. We will still offer a block of times starting at 1pm or couples may play any other time throughout the day.
Mixed couples who wish to participate, but not in the 1pm block of times, may do so by making their own tee time and pairing on the designated Mixed Couples course. All competitive participants must register online with Golf Genius, and we will continue to use live scoring on Golf Genius with updated leaderboards as the rounds progress. Entries will close at 3pm Saturday afternoon to allow the golf shop to prepare the event. Please call the golf shop at 768-2529 if you have any questions.

Single Rider Cart Policy Update
In order for our members and guests to play safely without everyone being in a single rider cart we need your help.   Please review the following walking, walking with push carts and cart options that are now in effect.  We will be:

  • Asking those who can walk to please walk.  In this regard, all fees for walking at any time will be waived.  This will include fees for push carts, whether owned by the member or the Club.
  • Encouraging players who ride together to social distance by alternating walking and riding, either alternating holes or nines, with both players keeping their bags on the cart.
  • Providing masks for those needing them so they can be worn by players who are not part of a single household who are riding together and, thus, are not socially distancing.
  •  Instituting, during peak times and when carts are available, an additional per player fee of $15 for 18 holes and $10 for 9 holes for players who request a single rider cart.  The pro shop will add a notation at the top of the online tee at least 2 days prior to a day when the fee is expected to be imposed based on the volume of play. A notification will also be sent to all players on the tee sheet by 5pm of the afternoon prior.  This will aid players in determining whether the options mentioned above can be employed or whether a single rider cart may still be needed.
Clearly, we need every members' help, support and cooperation in order to accommodate the high volume of play we're experiencing, with both courses open, while staying safe and healthy. Beyond walking, it will greatly assist the golf staff if members would indicate their need for a single cart or push cart when making their tee time online or over the phone. Thank you for your assistance in this matter as we manage our way through these challenging conditions created by COVID-19.
