LOOK AT OUR PHYLLIS GO!
Look at our Phyllis go. Just in case you don't know who Phyllis is, let me tell you a little story. I met Phyllis six years ago when she moved in across the street with Teresa's cousin. It wasn't long before she began volunteering with Pie when we had our Farm-to-Family truck. She was the reason that truck always looked like it rolled out of a Martha Stewart show. Every item, strategically placed for maximum gorgeousness. You don't want to know what it would have looked like if I had been arranging it. When F2F didn't work, Phyllis told me, "I'm still with you. In for a penny, in for a pound." And those were not just words. They were a promise. A guarantee. As our Senior Produce Program was born, Phyllis was there in my front yard, through 100-degree heat, mosquitoes that could carry off small children, rain (no snow), and even a couple of hurricanes. Never wavering and always focused on the mission with a servants heart, helping vulnerable seniors. When we made our big move to St. Augustine in February of 2018, none of us could have imagined what would happen next. The ink wasn't even dry on the signed lease when GBS jumped out of boogeyland and sent me to the hospital for six weeks. My "in for a penny, in for a pound" friend never skipped a beat. She created from scratch (and a lot of things from my house) the beautiful space that is the warehouse you see today. She and the wonderful board of Pie,  Loretta McMaster, Teri BachusTeresa Jenkins Fischer, and  Betsy Freeman, jumped on-board the “let's get 'er done” train and not only kept Pie going, but grew it exponentially. They never skipped a beat and there was never a week our seniors did not get food. In the two-and-a-half years since, I have not been able to be as hands-on as I was for all the years prior and it has been hard for me. And while it has been hard to not be on the frontline, I have never worried one second about the Pie program because I knew Phyllis had the heart and the spirit and Lord knows, the boundless energy to carry on, to grow and to serve and to do it with love, just the way I had all these years. Let me tell you something, it is rare to find someone who shares your passion the way you do. But I am been blessed beyond measure to have had Phyllis come into my life at just the right time. And blessings once again to have the support of the best board in the world, as they too feel the passion for the work that we do. Thank you Phyllis, Loretta, Melissa, Teresa, Betsy, and Teri. You all make the world a better place. 💜 I should also add that Phyllis would take a bullet for me and for Pie, but being the spokeswoman on camera leaves her breathless. But because I couldn't, she did. That's a trooper.
A SWEETER THAN PIE THANK YOU TO . . .

❤️ All the kind folks that made "Build A Bag" such a huge success. You brought bags into our warehouse and if you could not make it in, you made donations. Your donations and gifts will go a long way toward helping us fill senior pantries.

❤️ Tom Boal, thank you for helping us make a connection with Winn-Dixie and thank you, Winn-Dixie, for finishing the bags and packing senior pantries.
❤️ A huge thank you to KeHe Distributors for their generous donations and continued commitment to Pie in the Sky. And of course, thank you to Marcus Owens, the man that keeps it coming. Our seniors love the amazing array of products you provide!

❤️ And to all of our volunteers who have not had a consistent schedule since March, but have been patient and ready to roll on a moment's notice. Without them, we would not be able to do what we do. We thank each and every one of you for being "A Piece of the Pie."
SPEND A SUNDAY WITH PIE
This past Sunday, Pie in the Sky participated in the United Way Sunday Food Giveaway. Thank you, Jenny Harvey at United Way, for inviting us! Nothing feels better than working with friends for a great cause. Check out this video we put together from the weekend.
A TISKET - A TASKET
A PIE IN THE SKY BASKET UPDATE!
To all of you who participated in our first live auction, "A Tisket - A Tasket, A Pie in the Sky Basket," (which turned into a silent auction due to technical difficulties); We loved the messages of encouragement, continued participation, and most of all, your support in helping us fight senior hunger in St. Johns County. A big shout-out to Len Freeman (our award-winning auctioneer), Christina Guiriba (our hostess with the mostess), and Betsy Freeman (the person behind the camera) for keeping it going no matter what was thrown at us! Thank you to Charley and Heidi Nelson, Lynn Carson, Rosalie Cocci, and Tyler "Mex" Walters, our illustrious volunteer support.
DELIVERY STARTS BACK JULY 8 TH
We are happy, joyful, and plain thrilled to announce that we are back on the road, delivering to our seniors every week beginning July 8th. Yes, volunteers, you can expect to see a schedule in your email boxes very soon!
Pie in the Sky would like to give a super big shout-out to our partners at Winn-Dixie, who stepped up in a huge way by donating more than $5,000 worth of items for our "Replenish the Pantry Campaign." Because of their generosity, our seniors are well on their way to having their basic needs supply replenished. These past few months have been hard on everyone, but especially hard on our seniors who had to use every last item they had stocked away for a rainy day. "This donation," said Malea Guiriba, "is an incredible gift for the 430 seniors that we provide food for. This will help these folks get back on their feet and we are deeply grateful to our partners at the Winn-Dixie Gives Foundation for their generosity and their commitment to providing for their community especially during this time of crisis.”
