SBCA Launches Into 2021
Dear Colleagues:

I hope this message finds you and your families in good health. 2020 was a challenging year for every business including many trade associations. I am pleased to state that SBCA is in strong financial health and has been able to transition to a completely virtual model for both operations and advocacy. At some point, we will be able to attend events and meetings but until then we are working diligently to meet the needs of our valued members. As we move into 2021, I wanted to provide you with an update on what SBCA, your trade association, is doing to support our members and enhance the overall industry.

First of all, I am pleased to announce that on January 11, the FCC ruled in favor of our petition against an ordinance regarding dish placement and removal. This case had been pending for many years and reaffirmed the consumers’ right to be able to install satellite television and broadband. This ruling has further implications, as it will also apply to 5G and other technologies that require an antenna or are transmitted. SBCA worked diligently to identify municipalities, HOA’s and other groups who are trying to limit installation of these products to ensure that your customers can receive the services they desire.
SBCA REWIND: President of SBCA interviewed by Government Technology magazine
Last September, Steve Hill, president of SBCA was interviewed by Government Technology magazine. The article entitled "Once an Internet Underdog, Satellite Is Having a Moment" details how satellite has helped consumers stay connected during the pandemic and how the technology has evolved and continues to improve.
There's Still Time to Renew Your Membership for 2021
Your support makes it possible for SBCA to accomplish its mission of education, advocacy and serving as a resource for information about our industry and related fields. We anticipate 2021 will be a very active year legislatively as many states are considering satellite taxes and other regulatory actions which impact your business and we anticipate significant funds being made available for broadband expansion. We need your support more than ever to ensure the industry is properly represented.
