In-Person Services - Update July 9, 2020
As promised, we wanted to update you regarding our in-person services at KBI. We have successfully run weekday afternoon services one day a week for the last two weeks. We were able to do so with pre-registration, requiring the use of masks, and asking people to bring their own Kippah and Siddur. We also check with everyone on the day of to confirm that they are feeling healthy and well. As a result of this success, we will now begin running afternoon services twice a week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, returning to our original service time of 6:00 pm. . The service will also be simultaneously streamed over the Kehillat Beth Israel Facebook Page.
Additionally, we will begin offering an in-person weekday morning/Shacharit service for the first time on Sunday, July 19th. The service will be outdoors and at 8:30 am. . In addition to this service, we will continue to offer our Zoom-only morning services on Mondays and Thursdays.

Finally, over the last number of weeks, we have been working towards offering a livestream of our Saturday morning Shabbat service. We are in the final stages of securing the technology necessary to make this happen. We can now announce that we are aiming to offer an abbreviated/trial Saturday morning service on July 25th and will begin offering a fuller Shabbat service (though still abbreviated for livestream) on August 2nd. Please stay tuned over the next couple weeks for more details about how you can participate in these services. In order to allow for singing in the service and to assure everyone’s health and safety, in-person participation in these services will be limited to 10 people, which will primarily be those serving a role in the service. When possible, we may also be able to invite those with Yahrzeits to participate live as well. Again, more information regarding this service will be available in the coming weeks. Should circumstances beyond our control, including technological delays, prevent us from beginning to stream on the dates listed above, we will be communicating that as early as possible.
As we have expressed before, we are eager to provide opportunities for in-person services, but will only do so if we believe they can be done safely and meaningfully. We believe that these steps represent these values and we are proud to be able to slowly and thoughtfully roll out additional opportunities for in-person prayer.

There are many blessings that happen in all of our lives such as the birth of a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild; the engagement or marriage of a loved one; or a promotion at work or a volunteer award. These events lend balance to times of sadness, such as the death or illness of a loved one. We at Kehillat Beth Israel are grateful for the opportunity to share these moments with you - to be a source of community in both times of celebration and times of sorrow. As our building remains closed for the time being, a rotation of staff is set in place to assure that mail is received and phone messages responded to. We are attempting to do our best to maintain the outstanding service you've come to expect from our congregation, but it is still likely to take a little bit longer than usual to respond to requests and we ask for your patience as we do our best to pivot to this new reality.
