FAMILY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT
The week of September 27-October 3, we will be hosting a family photo scavenger hunt. Get your family out of the house to snap some crazy photos in outdoor public spaces! The scavenger hunt list will be distributed on Sunday 9/27 and find time throughout the week to capture as many of the photos as you can. All photos need to be submitted by 10/3 and we will do a live virtual meet to watch a slide show of all the crazy antics and crown a winning family. Email Emily to RSVP to the event, anyone is welcome to participate regardless of the number of people or ages in your household.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
Our annual Blessing of the Animals will be part of our October 4 Sunday online celebration (October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, who celebrated all of God’s creatures). Please email a picture of your pet or favorite animal, along with a name and breed, to kris@dayspringumc.org by Monday, Sept. 28.
CHARGE CONFERENCE
Our annual Charge Conference is scheduled for October 5, 2020 via zoom. The conference is held every year for the purpose of conducting the business of the church as required by the 2016 Book of Discipline. This is a charge conference, which means only members of the Covenant Council may vote, however everyone is welcome to attend and speak.
ONLINE CANDIDATE FORUM
Valley Interfaith Project is hosting a candidate accountability session on Zoom Tuesday, October 6, 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Invited candidates are those running for the Legislature in legislative districts 17 and 18 (Dayspring is in LD 18, and LD 17 includes parts of Chandler and Sun Lakes). Also invited are candidates for Chandler School Board and the at-large and District 1 seats on the Maricopa County Community Colleges District governing board.
Join this event to hear candidates for these offices respond to questions about our priority issues. Click here for more information and registration details.
VOTE 2020
As we all know, there is a big election coming up in less than two months! Besides casting your vote for candidates and issues, there are many other opportunities for how to get involved and participate in this process as we get closer to Election Day 2020. Our United Methodist Social Principles remind us: “The form and the leaders of all governments should be determined by exercise of the right to vote guaranteed to all adult citizens. . . . The strength of a political system depends upon the full and willing participation of its citizens.”

In order to help ensure this right for all, Dayspring members are working with Valley Interfaith Project in a nonpartisan effort to help get people registered and prepared to vote. If this is an area of service that interests you, please email Sharon Kurtz. She can answer any of your questions and further explain what would be involved if you want to join the “Get Out the Vote” team!
FAMILY PROMISE COSTUME DRIVE
Halloween is right around the corner and Family Promise hopes to give their families a treat of being able to trick-or-treat on their two campuses. They are requesting a donation of brand new costumes (if you are looking for ideas Fortnite characters are a favorite, as well as tv characters). All donations must be dropped off at 7447 E Earll Dr. Scottsdale 85251.
CREIGHTON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
We are in the middle of a massive food crisis relief effort - every month Creighton Community Foundation delivers about five tons of food into our communities through weekly food boxes. The organization is in a heated pursuit for a $100,000 USA Today A Community Thrives grant for lasting urban food work that will change food security and access to nutrition in our communities through community gardens and on-going low income farmers markets. A big piece of this grant is carrying out a grassroots campaign that leads to the big award. Every donation counts as a community vote - even $5 counts. That's the cost of a mocha latte, but $5 will be put into our COVID relief work where it will feed a kid for a week in a family food box. Donations must be made through this site, and this is the week that the number of donations (not the amount) counts! Learn more
