Volunteers Needed for Bike to School
Hi Marquette and Lapham Families,

My name is Kyle, I am a parent of a 3rd grader at Marquette, a 1st grader and a 4K'er at Lapham. I am seeking volunteers for a Bike and Walk to School event from May 2nd to May 6th.

Walking and biking are excellent ways to build healthier habits, a cleaner environment and promote accessible transportation options. If you want to learn more about this initiative walkbiketoschool.org contains a lot of great background information and ideas for encouraging biking & walking.
The plan is for an event similar to the one we ran last spring, where volunteers helped make signs and guide walking/biking groups to school from their respective neighborhoods. Example tasks include:
Decorate a bike week yard sign to be placed at meeting points and at schools (materials will be provided)
Establish a neighborhood bike/walk to school meeting point
Attach "bike fairy" notes/small gifts to bikes parked at school (materials will be provided)
Plan an add-on event (ABC bike checks, morning commuter coffee time, skills course, etc..)
If you're interested in volunteering, please respond to this survey. (https://forms.gle/CBkJXEJpz6hBfhyq5)
Thanks!

PE is Requesting Gently Used Shoes
As the weather is getting warmer and you find that some shoes may not fit anymore, please consider making a donation to Marquette Elementary/O'Keeffe Middle School. Gently used elementary-sized sneakers (around U.S. kids' sizes 1-6) or any type of closed-toed shoes appropriate for P.E/going outside would be much appreciated! Donations can be made by simply sending the donated items in a bag with your student to turn in at school. Thank you!!
