We are in this Together...a Note for Mr. Orlando
I want to thank our families for their commitment to keeping our community safe. I know that many of you are making tremendous sacrifices to allow students to attend school in-person. It is really critical that we all continue to prioritize education and staff/student safety by making smart choices about outside of school activities. As you know, our students and teachers are in teams and do not come in contact with students/staff from other teams. One of greatest risks to our staff and students are potential exposures that occur outside of the school setting that we can not control for. Our staff has chosen to severely limit the people they see (including family) and where they go to ensure a safer environment in their classroom. Please consider the activities you or your children participate in based on the following guidelines:
Gatherings
- Lowest risk: Virtual-only activities, events, and gatherings.
- More risk: Smaller outdoor gatherings in which individuals from different households remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, wear cloth face coverings, do not share objects, and come from the same local area (e.g., a community, town, city, or county).
- Higher risk: Medium-sized in-person gatherings that are organized/laid out to allow individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, some wear cloth face coverings and come from outside the local area (e.g., a community, town, city, or county).
- Highest risk: Large in-person gatherings where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, do not wear cloth face coverings and travel from outside the local area.
Team Sports
- Lowest Risk: Performing skill-building drills or conditioning at home, alone or with family members.
- Increasing Risk: Team-based practice.
- More Risk: Within-team competition.
- Higher Risk: Full competition between teams from the same local geographic area.
- Highest Risk: Full competition between teams from different geographic areas.
Attending school in-person is a tremendous gift and privilege our students have. Let's stay vigilant!

Tuesday, October 6: Smith (2S), 8B, 5A, 8C
Wednesday, October 7: PreK (P), 8A, 7th
Thursday, October 8: PreK (S), 6A, 6B
Friday, October 9: Johnson (3J), 5B, Fox (1st), 4C
Tuesday, October 20 will be make up day.
Since we aren’t doing sibling photos in school, we are offering time slots on Saturday October 17th so that you can bring your children to Peabody for a quick 5 minute session! This is also an opportunity for at-home learners to have their picture taken, too.

From the Health Clinic
In an effort to ensure students may return to school as quickly as possible, we have adapted a return to school template from Pediatric Associates that you are welcome to share with any pediatrician you choose as an example. We are NOT requiring that all return to school notes use this format. It is being provided as an example in case one is helpful! We also now have a fax machine to make it easier for doctors to securely send us return to school notes in a timely fashion. The fax number is (434) 288-5591 and is included on the bottom of this form.
If you are having trouble determining whether or not to send your student to school, you can call or email Nurse Tara (email: [email protected] or (434) 296-6901 ext. 115) and she will respond during school hours. Or you may also consult this VDH algorithm. Thank you so much for everything you’re doing to keep Peabody safe this year!

Virginia also launched a new application called COVIDWISE. It is the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) COVID-19 exposure notification app to facilitate contact tracing in response to the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
- COVID-19 Weekly Metrics: The seven day moving average(combined and scaled for Charlottesville City/Albemarle County) is 22.5 cases/100K and a PCR positivity of 4.8%.
