Great Things Lie Ahead - 6th Grade Graduation
Congratulations to the 6th grade class of 2021 on their graduation from St. Philip’s School and Community Center in the midst of a pandemic! On May 27th, eight students crossed the stage as they prepare to move on to the next chapter of their lives. We are extremely proud of each and every one of you. Destiny is yours!
Retirement Celebration
Four of St. Philip’s dedicated staff and faculty were celebrated for their cumulative 129 years of service. We want to send our sincerest thank you to Antoinette Ashley, Veronica Burrell, Coach Robert Green, and Shelia Pate, for their commitment to the ministry of St. Philip’s for over two decades each. St. Philip’s has been tremendously blessed by their generous sharing of gifts and expertise in the classroom, in the school clinic, and on the basketball court. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

5th and 6th Grade Samsung Presentations
Our 5th and 6th grade students have been working on a product design project in technology class called Interstellar Innovation. It meshes the work they were already doing with 3D Modeling and Design, with an initiative among African American professionals within the Samsung corporation to mentor youth. Students presented their projects in a virtual shark tank style boardroom, showcasing vision boards, 3D models, and answering questions from Samsung partners. Thank you to Samsung for allowing our students to be a part of this amazing opportunity. Thank you to Mr. Rice for helping our students think outside the box and become innovative leaders of tomorrow.

Samaritan's Feet Shoe Distribution
We would like to thank Samaritan’s Feet and Truist Bank for partnering with us to put on a shoe giveaway. They supplied over 700 hope totes, each with a new pair of new shoes, socks and a handwritten message of hope. 520 families registered to receive the shoes, and the remaining were given away first come, first served. The goal of Samaritan’s Feet is to provide properly fitting shoes for students, so they can have a better focus in the classroom. We will host a 2nd event in early August before school resumes with another 700 shoes! We would also like to send a special thank you to the Dallas Spurs and the Liverpool Supporters Clubs for volunteering to work these events.
Mother's Day Store
Our annual Mother’s Day Store, held on May 8th was a huge success. It was an amazing time for children to come out and select gifts for their mothers and mother figures in their lives. A special thank you to the ladies from the Church of the Transfiguration who have supported this event for many years, providing volunteers and gift donations.
Community Beautification
On May 15th, 25 volunteers from the Dallas Stars Foundation picked up trash in the neighborhood surrounding St. Philip’s. Following the cleanup, the Dallas Stars Foundation sponsored a Barbeque Community Lunch, serving 150 neighbors and volunteers. Special thanks to Gold Auto Parts for providing the trash dumpster for the cleanup, and to Dr. Pepper for donating the waters and sodas for the combined events. Lastly, we are so appreciative for Chelsea Livingston, Marty Turco, and the Dallas Stars Foundation for their ongoing support of St. Philip’s!

Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry has been so blessed by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Alpha Xi Omega Chapter, and the Ivy and Pearl Foundation for their generous donation of 2,600 pounds of food. The Ivy and Pearl Foundation is a Youth Program of Alpha Xi Omega Chapter for young girls between the ages of 13-18. Thank you for your generosity to our pantry and our south Dallas community.
Aunt Bette's Community Pantry

All volunteers must wear masks and gloves, maintain safe social distance, and neighbors are required to wear masks upon arrival. Masks are provided on a need basis. Sign up to volunteer.
Pantry Volunteers in Action!
Baldwin and Crystal Hamilton and their three sons have consistently volunteered in Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry over the last few months. They are super hard workers and make the processes seamless, efficient and fun! The boys are often spotted dancing to the tunes from Kelvin’s speaker. We are fortunate the Hamilton family is committed to serving in the pantry and we look forward to seeing them more this summer!
