STEWARDSHIP
September 13, 2020
"Possessions"
1 Timothy 6:6-9

6 Of course, there is great gain in godliness combined with contentment; 7 for we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; 8 but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. 9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
Today is Kick-Off Sunday and Stewardship will be at Avondale in front of the FLC for Stewardship Packet pick-up from 10:45 AM until 12:45 PM. Come see friendly faces, walk the campus and gardens, and pick-up your 2021 pledge card.
Packets that are not picked-up will be mailed.
Dedication Sunday is October 4. Please return your pledge card to Avondale by this date.

Stewardship
Today we are celebrating the kick-off of our church stewardship season. Do you know what the word stewardship means? Stewardship means, "the job of taking care of something that has been given to you!" When we talk about being a steward at church we are referring to caring for and taking care of the many gifts God has given us!

What has God given Avondale?
God has given us a beautiful church to learn and grow!
It is our job, as good stewards to care for the church by taking care of the building, making repairs and sharing our church with the community.
God has given us a wonderful church family!
It is our job as good stewards, to care for each other by being kind and helpful!
There are many other gifts God has given us! Can you think of a few?

It takes energy, creativeness and money to be good stewards of God's gifts and to share them with others! Some people have the gift of being able to share money with the church, some give a lot of their time, volunteering in different ways and some can do both! All gifts are equally important!

How can you be a good steward of the gifts God has given you?
Spend some time with your family talking about this! Consider making a card and bringing it to church on Dedication Sunday, October 4th, sharing how you plan to share your gifts with the church in the coming year!

Prayer
Dear God, thank you for the many gifts you have given me. Help me to be a good steward of those gifts by sharing them with others. Amen.
