Storytelling Abound 📚
Greetings!

The Cinnamongirl team has been busy figuring out fresh ways to inspire our girls who are without doubt-- destined for greatness! We have two new cohorts, a total of 30 new girls who will join the Cinnamongirl family.

Write Your Story empowers girls aged 12-18 to own, write, and publish their stories. This program allows girls to come together, share their stories of fiction, nonfiction and spoken word while receiving expert instruction and feedback from some of our most renowned and awarded female authors of color. The Cinnamongirl stories will be professionally edited and published in a beautifully bound book launched at the 2021 Bay Area Book Festival, one of the world’s premier literary stages.
Passport: Cinnamongirl Book Club brings together brilliant book-loving girls ages 9-12 to read and analyze different genres, and discuss the issues that are relevant to them. As this program takes shape, we aim to have our youngest Cinnamongirls interview authors, and lead book talks.

Alumni Spotlight: Jayla Loren Smith
This month, we highlight Jayla Loren, a Head Royce School alum (2018) and Cinnamongirl forever.

A rising junior at USC and a world traveler, Jayla had big plans this summer to intern in Madrid and travel throughout Europe on her three-day weekends. With COVID 19 canceling her summer plans, she wanted to invest her time doing something creative to support herself and the Black Lives Matter movement, so she put her tie-dye and sewing skills to work, launching Jayla Loren Apparel ( JLA) on June 1st.

Selling distinctive unisex tie-dyed hoodies, t-shirts and masks JLA fans enjoy a new design drop every few weeks. If you aren’t following this Cinnamongirl, on IG or Facebook you’re missing out!
