Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals in the Upstate of South Carolina through the power of the horse.
July 2020
Hello Happy Hooves friends and family,

We hope your summer has been going well.  We are in full swing at Eden Farms with summer camps, trail rides, and lessons.  We have Covid precautions in place and our riders are enjoying their summertime fun.  A huge THANK YOU goes to everyone who donated to Happy Hooves during the past few months.  It has helped out tremendously with the care of the horses, extra cleaning supplies, and much more!

Jacob, our new 1,700 lbs Belgian gelding, waits patiently with Esther outside the covered arena.

Have you met our two new horses?  They were generously donated to our riding program and we couldn't be happier!  Jacob (in photo above) is 17 hands tall and has fallen in love with our riders as well as his stall fan!  He is often found about 1 inch from it, taking in the breeze!  Emmanuel is a grey Belgian/Percheron cross and is doing well being ridden in dressage lessons, on trail rides, and once our therapy program restarts, therapeutic riding lessons too.  The search for these horses has been long and we cannot thank some of our private donors enough for their generosity!

Have a wonderful 4th of July and we can't wait to see you soon  at Eden Farms !

God bless you and keep you,
Becky Sweeney

Congratulations to one of our campers!
There's Plenty of Hands-on Horse Fun at Eden Farms 16th Annual Horse Camp!

We are half way through our summer camp and it's been the best summer yet!  We are outside and spread out even more than before, practicing social distancing, washing our hands often, sanitizing equipment a nd surfaces throughout the day, as well as practicing other Covid precautions.

And the most amazing news, thanks to the generosity of Helen's Hugs , 45 children with special needs and/or at risk youth are able to attend a week of summer camp! They will ride and care for their horses, enjoy educational horse activities like grooming, saddling, horse safety, healthcare and feeding, make horse themed arts and crafts, play on Tonka's Trail playground, have Bible devotions, and be welcomed, wanted and loved!

A huge thank you to Helen's Hugs and everyone who donated funds to make these camp scholarships possible!

School at the Barn Horse Quiz

We love having special needs classes from nearby schools spend their day at Eden Farms riding horses in therapy lessons, learning life skills and increased mobility in Equine Assisted Learning, classroom time, and plenty of picnic and playground time on Tonka's Trail!  Thank you to Dabo's All In Team Foundation, Leadership Greenville Class of 45, and Helens Hugs for making these days possible, you are positively impacting and changing the lives of these amazing children, one stride at a time.

Since the pandemic closed down schools, we sent these warm wishes and horse quiz out to our School at the Barn students via their teachers. What do you think? Could you answer all the horse questions?  Click HERE to find out!

Many employers also have programs designed to match their employees' charitable giving, and this is an easy way to double your impact! You can ask your employer if they have an Employee Matching Gift program and you may be surprised to find out there are many companies who offer this.

Friends of the Farm

We want to thank our most loyal supporters and make all donors and volunteers, new and old, feel appreciated! Your support is essential to our mission to enhance the lives of individuals in the Upstate of South Carolina through the power of the horse.

Happy Hooves is an all-volunteer organization. All funding comes from donations, fundraisers and grants. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, over 80% of our Happy Hooves riders are able to receive therapeutic riding at no charge.

Happy Hooves currently serves more than 500 Upstate children each year through therapeutic riding lessons, summer fun programs and School at the Barn.

School at the Barn has 570 therapy lessons and 570 Equine Assisted Learning lessons each year. Summer camp has 135 therapy lessons; and we have 400 individual therapy lessons for a total of 1675 lessons per year.

The therapeutic riding programs require an average of 40 trained volunteer positions each week, and run year round, with each volunteer working an average of 3 hours per week.

Eden Farms, home of Happy Hooves, is a beautiful 170-acre property with three arenas, a 40-stall barn that currently houses 30 horses; 10 boarders and 15 therapy horses. There is a newly renovated handicapped accessible playground on the grounds, along with a sensory riding trail with man-made activity stations.

We once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support and your donations. We couldn't help so many special needs children and adults, and at-risk children and teens, without you!

Did You Know?

Happy Hooves has been a PATH International Premier Accredited Center since 2005. In fact, we are one of only six Premier Accredited Centers in South Carolina, and the only one in the Upstate. This accreditation is a rigorous process requiring centers to meet stringent requirements for staff, facilities, and programs. A program must be re-accredited every five years.

Your contribution helps special needs children and adults, as well as at-risk children and teens.
Happy Hooves is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
