Upcoming Parent Social!

LAST WEEK TO RSVP!

It takes a village to raise kids - come expand your village by meeting other parents from our schools!

Last year, we heard feed back that it would be beneficial to host events where parents could meet each other. We heard you - and have put together this exciting event to come and socialize with other parents.

The Wales/Explore Parent Social order form deadline has been extended to Friday, January 13th. Don't have an order form? Print one off here.

Everything Explore

A lot is going on in Explore! The Navigators are working on learning about space. They are transforming their room into a space shuttle and turning their backpacks into jet packs! They are also writing nonfiction stories about space. The Scouts are learning about the different zones of the oceans. They are creating parts of the sea in buckets. The Pioneers have two fun seminars going on. One is called the “Scratch Project.” The kids are working on completing a bunch of coding challenges and then creating games applying what they learned. The other seminar is “Playing in the Snow Takes a lot of Energy.” In this seminar, kids are learning about energy transfer. Last week they created snowballs (marshmallows) catapults.

Kindergarten Fun!

Mrs. Hoffland's 5K class has been off to a great start this year. The kids made hats for the New Year and talked about their New Year's resolutions. This led to a discussion during their graduate profile time on ways to show kindness.

Drake, one of Mrs. Hoffland's students, has been showing kindness through gifts to his teachers. He chose a book for Mr. Otto called, "Otto." Mr. Otto was so happy to recieve such a kind and thoughtful gift that he took it to Drake's class and read it to them so everyone could enjoy.

Thanks, Drake, for being an upstanding citizen of our school.

Blessings in a Backpack

Blessings in a Backpack is an organization that helps to fill the weekend “gap”. This is a time when many children go hungry in our communities. They started bridging the gap by serving 25 students at Hadfield Elementary School in Waukesha, and now serve 3,300 children at 38 schools. They help bridge the gap for these children every week during the school year by filling their backpacks with food for the weekend.

Your child may be eligible to be a recipient of the Blessings in a Backpack program. If you would like to receive a bag of food, and need the food, then you don’t need to do anything. Food will be dispensed in a discreet and caring manner into your child’s backpack. There is no cost associated with this program.

There are many hungry kids throughout our area, and we are trying to make sure that those kids who need the food receive it from our organization. If you wish for your child to participate in the program you do not need to do anything.

If you choose to opt out of this program, you can either: sign the form that will be available at great start conferences and return it school or fill out this Google Form
