Beaches East Coast Greenway Feasibility Study
This feasibility study in the cities of Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, and Neptune Beach determined future routing of the East Coast Greenway through the Beaches communities.

The East Coast Greenway (ECG) is a multi-use trail system connecting 15 states and 450 cities and towns for 3,000 miles from Maine to Florida. The ECG provides a safe walking and biking route for the country’s most populated corridor. An interactive trail map is available on the ECG website.
To be considered for ECG designation, the trail surface must accommodate a variety of trail users including wheelchairs and touring bicycles. A hard surface such as asphalt or pavement, or a firm surface such as stone or dust would qualify for ECG. The minimum widths are 10 to 12 feet. The trail must be protected from motorized vehicles.

Ben Moore Receives Environmental Award
Congratulations to our consultant, Ben Moore, RS&H, for winning the Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board award for outstanding environmental individual achievement. The award was presented at a luncheon November 16.

Ben played a critical role in forming the North Florida Clean Fuels Coalition by developing the initial Alternative Fuels, Vehicles and Infrastructure Master in 2015, which he is currently updating. He has consistently provided outstanding initiative and stewardship in guiding our Coalition by providing the needed data, analysis and recommendations for strategic investments.
Road Rangers Make our Holidays Safer and Happier
North Florida residents and visitors are back on the roads for a busy travel season. Don’t let a holiday mishap like a flat tire or running out of gas on the interstate put a crimp in your festive spirit. The First Coast Road Rangers are here to help! If you’re on the roadway and need assistance, call *347 (FHP) on your mobile phone.

The Road Rangers operate nineteen routes in FDOT District 2, including seven routes that provide 24/7 coverage across the district. In addition to providing fuel, tire changes and minor emergency repairs, these highway heroes help with road debris, disabled vehicles, and help maintain traffic around crashes and other law enforcement activity. On average, Road Rangers assist motorists with nearly 4,000 events per month.

When you’re driving and see Road Rangers at work, remember to slow down, move over and be safe this holiday season.
