The 2020 General Election is Around the Corner -- Three Ways to Vote
The 2020 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd. Many residents are concerned about voting due to the lingering presence of the Coronavirus in our area. It’s important to know that there are voting options available to you.

  • Mail-in Voting -- Any registered voter can request a mail-in (absentee) ballot now if they do not wish to go to a polling location because of the risk of contracting or spreading an illness. Request your ballot now. The Board of Elections will start mailing the actual ballots in early October. County Boards of Elections, and all early voting sites, will be permitted to accept drop-off ballots beginning October 24th. Completed ballots will be counted as long as they are delivered, received by mail or postmarked by Election Day.
  • Early Voting -- Early in-person voting will be held from Saturday, October 24 through Sunday, November 1 at the Board of Elections, 25 Quarropas St. in White Plains.
  • Regular Voting -- You will also be able to vote at your normal polling location on Election Day as in the past. The Polls will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
City Establishes Police Reform Committee
On September 18th, Mayor Tom Roach announced the formation of the City of White Plains Police Reform Committee.

The committee will review the needs of the White Plains community served by its police department, evaluate the department’s current policies and practices; involve the full White Plains community in the discussion; develop policy recommendations resulting from this review; offer a plan for public comment; and present that plan to the White Plains Common Council. This effort is part of the New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative.

As part of this comprehensive review process, the City of White Plains and the White Plains / Greenburg NAACP Branch will co-sponsor a series of public comment sessions.
