Walking Off Pandemic Pounds
and Gaining Brain Health

During the pandemic, some of us took the opportunity to exercise more and eat healthier - and some of us consoled ourselves with comfort food and a lot more screen time.

If you're in the later group, this month's column gives you lots of reasons why a brisk walk with not only help you take off the pandemic lbs., but benefit your brain and mood, too. Co-written with LNKTV Health. Read our column.
Asian Community Center

Like others, the Asian Community and Cultural Center adapted during the height of the pandemic, offering many services online. The center has now reopened, resuming many in-person group activities while continuing to offer support services virtually as needed -- as well as expanding program offerings, like tablet literacy courses for seniors.

One community event that went virtual last year was the annual celebration of Asian culture, the Harvest Moon Festival. The Asian Center is pleased to announce that this year's event will again be open to the public. The festival is scheduled for September 19, from 4-7 PM at the Antelope Park Bandshell. Read more:

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.

We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease.  Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
