IAWF NorCal Hosts Women's Leadership Conference in San Francisco


The Iranian American Women Foundation is excited for its 13th Women's Leadership Conference! The Conference will be hosted on April 16th, 2017 at Westin SFO. It will feature a diverse array of engaging speakers, empowering stories, and will provide opportunities to connect with fellow members of the IAWF community. We look forward to seeing you very soon!

IAWF NorCal Successful "Women in Technology" Event

On Tuesday, January 24th, we hosted over 70 people for our first IAWF NorCal Chapter event of the year! Speakers  Leili Baghaei Neda Amidi ,  Sahar Tashakorinia, and  Roya Soleimani shared their experiences as women working in the technology sector, trends in their respective fields, and provided general career advice.
 

 
 


Sanam Akhlagh
New York
 
Sanam Akhlagh is the founder/Executive Director of Pardis for Children, a New York City-based 501 (c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to cultural and language education of children of Iranian heritage. Prior to establishing Pardis for Children in 2011, Sanam served as a consultant for multiple for profit, nonprofit and governmental agencies. In her last role, Sanam managed the Community Partners program, one of Mayor Bloomberg’s Center for Economic Opportunities initiatives in New York City. Sanam has been involved in various philanthropic efforts over the years. After the earthquake in Iran, Bam in December of 2003, Sanam organized a fundraising to help the victims. She then flew to Bam to oversee the distribution of the funds among multiple local NGOs and hospitals. In 2005, Sanam shot a documentary called The Iron Cradle in Iran. Roya Soleimani
Northern California

Roya Soleimani is a Corporate Communications Manager at Google, where she focuses on the company's philanthropic arm, Google.org, social impact, and crisis response. She has been at Google in various product and corporate communications roles since July 2012, and also served as a lead Google Trends analyst, highlighting trending topics across Google on radio and media across the country. She regularly speaks on personal branding and effective communications, and serves as an adviser and operational partner at Pear Ventures, helping early stage startups with their messaging and communications strategies. She is host for the UC Berkeley Network Webinar Series where she reaches students, alumni, and beyond on topic of communications, networking, and more. Roya holds a Masters degree in Middle Eastern studies from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, and her Bachelors in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.   V isit Narges' IAWF profile  here. 
Roya Rakhshani
Southern California

We would like to extend our appreciation to Dr. Roya Rakhshani for her continues support and providing valuable medical services to IAWF members. 
Dr. Roya Rakhshani is a Board Certified Obstetrician & Gynecologist with a private practice in Costa Mesa. She is an active staff member at Hoag Memorial, Orange Coast Memorial, and Fountain Valley Regional Hospitals. Dr. Rakhshani has served as the department chief of OB/GYN at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, has chaired The Quality of Patient Care and served on various other committees.She has advanced training in Robotic surgery, and has successfully performed many minimally invasive operations. She has great interest in new innovations in her field of practice.At age 16, she moved to California and completed her senior year of high school. She went on to earn her medical degree and complete her residency at USC. She has been a sought-after speaker on topics of menopause, contraception and osteoporosis.
