Trash & Recycling Cart Placement on Collection Day
Dear Residents,

I hope this finds all of you well during these unprecedented times.

The Department of Public Works has encountered a new challenge pertaining to trash and recycling collection. As more people are working from home, the number of vehicles parked on the street has increased in some areas, leaving less space along the curb line for the recycling and trash carts. Trash and recycling collection days are now the same for all residents, and I would like to remind everyone to place all carts out with enough room around the perimeter to allow for easy collection by our vehicles. Leave
4 ft. of space around each cart when placing them out for collection. Do not place the carts near mailboxes, or under low tree limbs and wires. By so doing, our collection vehicles have adequate room to dump each cart safely and move on to the next house with no difficulty. I thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

If you have any questions, kindly contact our Department of Public Works office at 973-326-7398, or email us at publicworks@morristwp.com .

Sincerely,
Thomas J. Eschmann

Mayor Wilson's Message
Dear Residents,

As summer begins, COVID-related restrictions continue to affect every aspect of our daily lives.  Our pools will open July 3rd with a reduced number of members. We’ve hired “ambassadors” to assist with social distancing at the pools. We’ve cancelled many indoor recreation activities. Mask-wearing and communication via Zoom are givens of our “new normal.”

The regular meetings of the Township Committee, Planning Board, and Board of Adjustment will continue to be held by Zoom. The Environmental Commission resumed meeting (by Zoom) in June. The Transportation Advisory Committee will begin meeting by Zoom on August 12th. Decisions are pending on whether to open these meetings to limited in-person attendance by members of the public.

In regard to the Public Hearing on the Abbey currently scheduled for July 21st: plans are underway to secure a large venue that can safely accommodate socially-distanced, in-person attendance for the 200+ people who are expected. Our goal is to offer in-person attendance for anyone who is interested AND participation via Zoom for anyone who prefers remote access. We plan to let everyone know by the end of next week whether the July 21st date will or will not be postponed.

While this pandemic continues to pose ongoing challenges for all of us, residents can rest assured that the Township Committee together with our staff are working very hard to develop and implement plans that ensure the best possible outcomes for our community in many different areas: health, safety, recreation, finance, communication, and land-use decision-making processes to name a few.

Eventually this pandemic will pass. In the meantime, let us continue to meet the challenges of today with the amazing energy so many people in our community have shown: a strong spirit of we’re in this together AND we’re here to support and encourage each other. This is one way (of many) to ensure that we do indeed emerge stronger on the other side.

Until then – please do your part to protect the safety of all by wearing a mask and following social distancing guidelines.

Here’s to a safe and happy July 4th!
Best to all,
Cathy

2020 Summer Program Cancellations
Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the indoor facilities of the Morris School District have remained closed to public use this past spring, and continue to be closed at this time for summertime uses, we are unable to host certain indoor programs this summer. Unfortunately, Morris Township does not have a suitable indoor replacement facility.

Sadly we will not be able to offer the following programs that are based in Morris School District buildings:
  • Little Theater at Alfred Vail
  • Summer Preschool Program at Alfred Vail
  • Teen program at Thomas Jefferson

All that have paid for the above programs will receive a refund on the credit card used at time of registration. If you paid by check/cash we will have a check mailed to the address on file.

Thank You for your understanding during these unprecedented times.
