"The Four Cardinal Virtues
The Foundation of Character
Education in a Classical Academy

Hello, Raptor Families:
Last week, we provided an overview of the academic goals of classical education. Character education in our classical academy is also at the center of our mission. The four cardinal virtues - justice, temperance, prudence, and fortitude - provide the foundation for our work in character education.
Simply defined, a virtue is a power. While we may be naturally disposed to exhibit certain virtues, we all have to strive to perfect these powers. This week, we would like to focus on the power of justice.
Justice, which may be defined as giving each their due, leads us to consider what we owe ourselves and what we owe others. We encourage you to discuss this virtue with your children in the upcoming week. Here are some questions to ponder:
  • What do individuals owe to themselves?
  • What do parents owe their children?
  • What do children owe their parents?
  • What do teachers owe their students?
  • What do students owe their teachers?
Next week, we’ll take a closer look at temperance.
Uniform Reminder
As the weather changes, please remember that all coats, jackets and hoodies must be solid black, gray or blue. Parents, please make sure that your child brings the appropriate school jacket or hoodie to school each day. We appreciate your support!

Announcing 'SCHOOL-STORE!'
On Monday, students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will bring home a Parent Information Envelope letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.

The School-Store Fundraiser is 100 percent online so there is no face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products.  Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.

Everything you will need to get started will be in the Parent Envelope that your child brings home on Monday. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!
