Pendleton Place is a proud partner of the National Safe PlaceĀ® program and we are excited to bring this resource to our Greenville community. As of August 3rd, we are officially Greenville County's first and only Safe Place Agency!  Safe Place is a national youth outreach and prevention program for young people in need of immediate help and safety. As a community-based program, Safe Place designates businesses as Safe Place locations, making help readily available to youth in need. The youth in crisis can come in off the street and wait in a safe environment for a volunteer from Pendleton Place to connect them with or offer professional help and a place to stay until their situation is resolved.

As a longtime partner of National Safe Place, QuikTrip has been integral in bringing this program to our area. In addition to providing much needed start-up funding, all 22 Greenville County QT locations will serve as designated Safe Place locations. Safe Place business locations (both locally and nationally) are marked with the signature diamond yellow Safe PlaceĀ® sign and youth in crisis can also use TXT 4 HELP, a nationwide 24-hour text-for-support service by simply texting SAFE and their current location to 4HELP (44357).

Jordan Hemphill, Pendleton Place Outreach Coordinator, shared, "Home was always a safe place for me, but that is not the reality for so many of our youth. Many face heartbreaking crisis both inside and outside of their home. I'm proud that Pendleton Place has stepped up to be the Safe Place provider in our area. I'm thankful for the opportunity we will have to provide a haven for youth in need."

Arizona Children's Charities
Rock'N on the Runaway

For many years, Pendleton Place has been a grateful recipient of funding from Arizona Children's Charities and their Rock'N on the Runway events.  Unfortunately, like many other organizations, due to COVID-19 concerns, their Board made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 live events. However, they remain committed to supporting Pendleton Place and raising funds for the children, youth, and families that we serve.

As they shared in a recent email to supporters:

"That's why it truly is "All About the Kids" this year. While we won't be able to host you for our usual concert, we still need your help to make sure that the kids' needs are met. Right here in Greenville, there are still children who are abused, neglected, homeless, and living in poverty - we refuse to let COVID-19 stand in the way of helping them. In the coming weeks, Arizona's Children's Charities will launch a virtual campaign with the goal of raising critical funding to provide direct assistance to the charities who, like all of us, are just trying to get through this crisis."

We encourage you to visit the Arizona Children's Charities website and follow them on Facebook to stay tuned for more campaign details and ways that you can support these efforts.

Pendleton Place would also like to extend condolences to the Hulsey Family, a long-time Rock'N on the Runway partner, who recently suffered a tragic loss.
Volunteer Spotlight:
The Junior League of Greenville

Pendleton Place is thankful to be an Economic Mobility Community Impact partner for the Junior League of Greenville (JLG) again this year.  Last year JLG volunteers helped in a variety of ways including: Smith House tutors, clerical support, donation sorting, event volunteers, and Christmas wrapping.

Although volunteers are back on our campus in limited numbers and roles, the COVID-19 crisis has definitely affected our ability to host large groups or provide many traditional volunteer opportunities.  Not to be deterred, a team from the JLG recently met with us (virtually) to brainstorm ideas and come up with creative ways that they can continue to support our volunteer needs during 2020-2021.  We are incredibly grateful for their support and dedication to our efforts!
Pendleton Place Phones

Pendleton Place is in the process of updating our telephone systems, which could take several weeks as we replace the old components. We apologize for any troubles you may have experienced trying to reach us by phone and thank you for your patience!
