Imagining Our Future
At this year’s June Presbytery meeting, we began the work of imagining our future. The heart of discerning what, where, when, who and how we faithfully grow and serve is listening. Listening to God, our members, pastors and sessions.

A series of listening sessions were held across the presbytery both in person and online. The initial questions were focused on the role of presbytery within each church; the role of each church with regards to presbytery; and ideas for future presbytery roles and leadership. To date, we have heard from 23 sessions and numerous ruling elders, members and pastors.

These initial responses have been reviewed by Council and can be categorized into eight areas:

  • The structure, policies etc. of PCUSA (PCUSA 101)?
  • Pastoring the Pastor & Churches
  • Commission on Ministry: supporting our churches and pastors
  • Council & Leadership structure
  • Cross Presbytery Education: Biblical; officer training, etc.
  • Sharing of missions and programs
  • Technology Support
  • Communication

To date, Council has assigned moderators and work has begun on all but Technology Support and Communication. These last two will begin in January. Each team is looking at short term and longer term plans. They are committed to being flexible and continuously adapting these plans based on your inputs. At the December 6th Presbytery meeting, you will begin to see some of your ideas in action.

The work of these teams depends on the support and involvement across our presbytery. If you, or someone you know, has an interest, skill or talent and would like to contribute to any of the work, please reach out to the Presbytery office.

We are not done listening! We welcome and encourage your continuous feedback and suggestions. Most of all, we ask for your prayers. Prayers for our churches, for our pastors, for our presbytery and for the communities we serve.

As we enter the season of Advent, we look toward the one true light and know that God has beautiful plans for our future.

Podcast For Church Leaders
Ministry in the church can be life-giving and life-changing and, in the midst of it, we all need faithful companions along the road. Welcome to Along the Road – a podcast on faith and leadership for ministry leaders of the PC(USA).

Be inspired, hear the stories of others, and practice the tools of faith and leadership through conversations that nourish, enrich, and aid in the formation of leaders in the church.  Mid Council leaders will integrate foundational values with the practice of faith and ministry. Congregational leaders, particularly ruling elders and deacons, will experience practices to connect faith to everyday life.

Nourish: Short episodes for ruling elders and deacons.

Encounter: Longer episodes for church and mid council leaders.
