COVID REOPENING UPDATE
As we continue to make strides in vaccination rates, the synagogue will continue its efforts to return to the familiarity and openness that we have grown accustomed to over the last number of years. As promised at the beginning of the summer, every few weeks we will be making the necessary adjustments to our protocols and practices to account for the changes in the COVID reality in Ottawa. As such, you will find below the latest regarding our practices at the synagogue. We will continue to keep you updated every few weeks and as events warrant as we continue through the summer.

  • Beginning next week, morning Minyan will take place in-person on Mondays and Thursdays. These services will also be available over Zoom and all other non-Shabbat mornings will remain exclusively virtual for the time being. To register for services over the next few weeks, please click here.

  • Mincha/Maariv services are now meeting every Sunday-Thursday both in person and over Zoom. To register for these services, please click here.

  • We are continuing to increase the total number of participants that can attend our Shabbat services. We are now happy to welcome up to 100 people for any Shabbat service.

  • Previously, due to limited numbers, we had discouraged children’s attendance in our services. In the coming weeks, not only will there be services specifically for children and families, but children are also welcome to attend our main services (if they can remain masked and physically distant during the service).

  • In the coming weeks, all of our services will begin integrating components of the service that were changed when we transitioned to a primarily virtual forum. Please keep an eye out for those changes in the weeks to come.

KBI “HIGH HOLY DAYS HIGH” VIRTUAL PROJECT
Striving for 100% Participation -- a Welcome-Back Project for ALL!
We’d like to welcome everybody back into the KBI building to take part in this fun and collaborative music project with Cantor Green – we’re aiming for 100% participation!

There’s something for everyone, no matter how much singing experience you have – youth, adults, families, choristers. You can choose parts that are just seconds long; beloved refrains; or a collection of “Amens” – it couldn’t be easier. But we want everyone to take part!

Head over to www.kehillatbethisrael.com/HHH to check out the videos and choose segments you’d like to record at KBI. We’ll be booking recording sessions on Sundays, Aug. 1st and 8th, and by special appointment at other times of those weeks. All recordings must be completed by Aug. 12th to allow time for editing the final video. Questions? Email Cantor Green!

Shabbat Shalom, and sing well!

There are many blessings that happen in all of our lives such as the birth of a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild; the engagement or marriage of a loved one; or a promotion at work or a volunteer award.  These events lend balance to times of sadness, such as the death or illness of a loved one. We at Kehillat Beth Israel are grateful for the opportunity to share these moments with you - to be a source of community in both times of celebration and times of sorrow.  Below you will find some of the events in our community from the last few weeks. Please continue to share with us your happy occasions so that we may share them here in the future.

And in the spirit of gratitude, we also take this opportunity to thank the members of our community for their charitable gifts to the synagogue. We could not do the important work that we do at Kehillat Beth Israel without your generous support. We are so thankful for your continued contributions that allow us to grow and thrive. Todah Rabbah!
