Dear Students,

I know being on a virtual program is difficult, but I so appreciate those students who will have their video on and actively participate during the presentation. Please make every effort to continue these good behaviors during our next few program days. The group assignment below will require your entire group to have a role and be engaging! Mark all our program days on your calendar and please try to arrive on time - it is not ideal to arrive late and interrupt our speakers. Thank you.

GROUP ASSIGNMENT
Leadership in the Movies

Each school group will have to do a 3-5 minute presentation during our program day to include the following:

  1. Show a clip from a movie - you can find clips by searching on YouTube. Send the clip to Mrs. Sanders prior to the program day so she can have that available to show.
  2. Include the following in your presentation - be as creative as you can be:

a. Why did you choose this scene from the movie?
b. What did you learn from it? (leadership or lack of leadership)
c. Who was the leader and why?
d. Describe the leadership skills demonstrated.
e. What techniques did the leader use or not use to motivate the team?
f. What was the preferred method of communication and why?
g. How will you use or not use the leadership skills from this movie?
h. Lessons to take away from the clip.

As I said at our program day, you cannot use a clip from Harry Potter. Here is an example of a good clip for this presentation. This clip from the movie Harry Potter shows many leadership skills that you could easily talk about in your presentation. What we see in this clip is the value of encouragement and how powerful it can be in motivating people to a high level of effort.

GROUP PROJECTS
You should be well on your way to making plans for your group projects. If you are behind, please get moving on the project as the March deadline will sneak up on you and this is a requirement of the program. The requirements for this program are in your SLJC notebook - remember, I need a YouTube link of your project video (3-minutes maximum) by March 1st.

Press releases? Are you doing a project that might be interesting to the general public? If so, let me know and I'll help you get a press release written to submit to the various media in the area.

Do you need help? Don't wait to ask for help - I'm excited to see some really amazing group projects submitted by this class.
