Identified with Christ by Pastor Rob
Open Arms of Jesus
To be identified with Christ is to embody specific attributes. The New Testament enumerates many of these traits in “virtue lists” found throughout. For instance: 2 Timothy 2:24-25. “The Lord’s servant must be … kind to everyone, an apt teacher, patient, [and] correcting opponents with gentleness . The Christian does not have the option of withholding kindness or opposing others harshly. Kindness and gentleness are mandated by the word.
Of course, we see people claiming the title ‘Christian’ lash out in judgment, villainizing those who disagree with them. Such behavior disregards the New Testament these very Christians would herald as the “word of God.” Those guilty of withholding kindness and gentleness clearly are not actually connected to Jesus, who gently welcomed the tax collector, the prostitute, the physically disabled, and the morally corrupt. Why did Jesus treat his opponents so differently that those today, who claim to be his followers?

Our Food Pantry - Now open 1st & 3rd Saturdays at 11 am
We've changed our food distribution schedule to only the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. We will continue to open at 11am in the lower level. The dates for this month are July 4th & 18th .
HELP KEEP IT GOING!
  • Volunteer one Saturday a month for the food distributions. Use this central sign-up and select the Chapel Hill Pantry events. Bagging begins at 9am and distribution set up begins at 10:30 am.
  • If you can donate groceries, we are collecting dry and canned goods, fresh produce, bread and meat (see most needed items here). Please check the expiration dates when donating. There is a collection box outside the church entryway where you can leave your donations.
  • Paper bags - we need paper grocery bags (new or used) in good condition. Leave them in the collection box.
Blood Drive Survey
drop of blood
Donating blood saves lives. During this health crisis, the need is greater than ever. We are interested in helping serve our community by hosting a blood drive at Hillside. Help us make this decision by  taking a short survey .
