Dear Residents -
Lots of exciting things are going on in Orangetown and our County. While Pearl River will not be holding their traditional 4th of July fireworks this year, they are hoping to have them on a Saturday in August - once we have moved deeper into Governor Cuomo's Phase 4 stage and social distancing regulations will (hopefully) be much more relaxed.
If you are looking for fireworks this weekend - NY Boulders will be shooting off fireworks on Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. Please see the
NY Boulders for further information. The annual MACY'S fireworks has been spread out over several nights - but on the 4th of July,
NBC will televise the finale from atop the Empire State Building, re-capping the previous 5 nights that fireworks went off throughout the city.
We have all been watching the news and seeing spikes of COVID-19 in many states, with the younger population being heavily affected. Please remember - the same rules still apply - maintain 6 feet a part, wash your hands often and wear a mask. In the long run, these 3 simple rules will help us stay healthy and allow us to move forward.
As we begin the second half of the year, I hope we can look back and reflect and realize just how far we have come.
Wishing you all a very Healthy, Happy and Safe Fourth of July.

Orangetown Food Pantry Donations
|
|
At the end of April, I learned that Food Pantries were struggling and we at the Town of Orangetown decided to (proverbial) roll up our sleeves and help.
With so many Spring races being canceled, we created a Virtual 5K - Where Community Comes Together, Even When We Are A P A R T.
Thanks to all our runners/walkers (223 in total) and to those who made donations, I was able to present 4 checks to our local food banks. Each bank received $ 3,000.00.
Many thanks to all who took part - your generous donations will go a long way in helping to feed our local families.
