SUNDAY MORNING BOTH/AND WORSHIP BEGINS JUNE 20
Sundays, 9 AM (In-person and live-streamed) Please arrive early.
Traditional Sunday Service
Childcare for infants to pre-school, Kids/Students First Activities are offered
This worship allows people who are in person and part of our online community to worship together, experiencing the transcendence of the divine through the architectural elegance of the sanctuary, the inherited sacred music of faith, a relevant message that connects the ancient scriptures with our current experience.
Why we require you to be masked
For those joining us in-person, masks or face coverings will be required to protect those who are unable to be vaccinated as of yet, namely children 12 and younger. Social distancing, registration and capacity limits will align with the most current recommendations for San Diego County. Watch for details on registration on June 13, but for now, mark your calendars!
Why we want you to arrive early
For those who are joining us in-person, we invite you to arrive 30 minutes early for outdoor fellowship prior to arriving in the pews, and to stay awhile after services for more outdoor fellowship. For those who are joining us online, register to visit with others in our Sunday morning zoom fellowship.

Holy Communion, prayer and words of inspiration
Children and Youth of all ages are welcome to attend this informal service. There will be no childcare or Kids/Students First activities. Worship together as a family
Join us for a new worship experience on Sunday evenings at 5 PM followed by social fellowship on the patio at 6 PM. Sunday Evensong is specifically designed for those who want a more intimate, informal, in-person worship experience in the sanctuary, highlighting the sacrament of Holy Communion, prayer and words of inspiration from scripture and speakers. At 6 PM we move to Linder patio for a time to connect with one another through a variety of activities designed to get to know others better. Masks or face coverings will be required to protect those who are unable to be vaccinated as of yet, namely children 12 and younger. Support our Children's Growing Center!
Through most of the pandemic, the CGC remained open and provided high-quality childcare for families of essential workers. The staff and leadership have been extremely agile and flexible to comply with ever-changing health and safety guidelines. Some of these unexpected challenges have included reduced class sizes, increased staffing needs, and enhanced sanitation protocols. As you can imagine, this has greatly affected the finances of the school over the past year. To offset some of the fiscal impacts of the pandemic, we have launched the “Give Children’s Growing Center A Shot” campaign to raise $90,000 this year for the CGC. Please consider a donation to support our Children's Growing Center!

Email Gift Card Scam Warning!
We have once again been alerted to a scam in which an email message claiming to be from Rev. Trudy is being sent to church staff/members asking that they purchase gift cards. This is a scam and if you or other church members receive these emails, please mark them as “Junk” and “Block Sender”. Also, please do not reply to them, this can cause more of these email to go to your inbox since replying confirms that your mailbox is active. If you can help us get the word out to members you are in contact with, that would be great.

First Church Seeking Racial Justice Grant Applicants
The Racial Justice Grants Committee has released the 2021 Grant Application and this year’s grant focus areas. Thanks to some very generous donations, we will now be giving a total of $60,000 to local nonprofits that either engage in anti-racist policy advocacy and/or provide direct services to People of Color in San Diego County. Additionally the grants committee would like to focus our giving to organizations doing work in one or more of the three following areas: 1) Anti-racist policy advocacy/legislation, 2) Community organizing/community partnerships, and 3) Health care equity/mental health. If you know of a San Diego organization that is leading the way in anti-racist work, please encourage them to apply on our Racial Justice Grants website before July 30. For more information about our Racial Justice Endowment, or if you would like to make a contribution to the fund, please contact Jason Tucker at jtucker@fumcsd.org.

Pocket Prayer Quilts
Pocket prayer quilts (PPQ) are mini-quilts that are two to four inches square and inside each little quilt is a wooden cross. The PPQ can be kept in a pocket or purse, and when needed the recipient can touch it and feel the cross inside as their prayer is uplifted in petition, comfort, and gratitude.
