This Sunday, connect with your church family in our new “Aloha Lanai” format! Following worship, you will be invited to join with others who have typically attended the same pre-COVID worship service. Here’s how it will work:
 
  1. After the announcements on Sunday, close Facebook or Zoom. 
  2. Reopen this email and click on one of the Zoom links below. If you would like people to hear you, be sure to use a device that has a camera and a speaker – smart phones, iPads, and laptops usually come with these.
  3. When prompted, click “Start video” and “Join audio”
  4. Once you are in the meeting, a host will greet you and provide more instructions!
 
We are excited to see each of you and catch up. This will likely be a little hectic as we all get used to this new format. We ask for your grace with us and with one another! “See” you Sunday!

Ongoing Financial Impact of COVID-19 - September 17th at 5:30 pm
Join your Church Council for a webinar as our Treasurer, Craig McGinnis, and other leaders of Central Union share about the continued financial impact of COVID-19 on our church. 

The Council wants to hear from you in preparation for this meeting. Please email your questions or concerns in advance to council-chair@centralunionchurch.org or council@centralunionchurch.org.

Small Group Opportunity
Feeling lonely or disconnected? Join a small group beginning Wednesday, September 9! Facilitated by Pastor Mary, these groups will gather for 45 minutes to check in, study scripture, and share conversation and prayer together. Our hope is to grow small communities of care and support who can bless one another. The 2020 US Census will be ending soon. As of Sept. 1, only 61.8% of Hawaii’s households have self-responded. We must get closer to 100%! Have you signed up? Remind your friends and family to sign up right away!

Urgent Assistance for Kupuna 
The church staff has been working with various individuals and organizations to address emergency needs among our kupuna who are living independently and without family or any other support system in place. We want to offer our help in keeping them safe by limiting their exposure with the general public and helping them with the essentials during this time (e.g. prescriptions, necessary groceries or household items, etc). If you know of anyone with urgent needs who is without assistance or support, please call or e-mail Pastor Mary who is coordinating our efforts: (808) 440-3048 or mary-herbig@centralunionchurch.org.
