"Station to Station": Ed Hotchkiss Author Talk at the Library

Ed Hotchkiss spent decades photographing the people of New York's subways. His recently published book of photography was all done while Ed was a resident of Pelham and commuting to NYC for work in the financial services industry. Ed is a former Mayor and Trustee of the Village of Pelham. After his talk at the library, autographed copies will be available for sale. Registration is preferred but walk-ins are also welcome. Crafty Adults: 3D Paper Snowflakes

We're so excited to bring Crafty Adults back to the Library in-person with Sara Mallach! This month, we'll be making 3D paper snowflakes. All materials will be provided. Christmas Star with Joe Rao

Supernatural phenomenon? Natural astronomical occurrence? Simple function of the inexorable laws of physics? What exactly occurred in the skies above Bethlehem that has lived on through the centuries as the Christmas Star?

Modern astronomy has an explanation –or rather, several possible explanations that Hayden Planetarium Scientist and Former News 12 weather person, Joe Rao will walk us through.

Adult Hybrid Book Clubs

Both book clubs will be taking a break for the month of December but will be back in January.


The After-Dark Book Club will meet on Thursday, January 5 at 7:30 pm to discuss The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish and on Thursday, February 2 at 7:30 pm to discuss Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones.


The 2nd-Friday Book Club will meet on January 13 at 10:30 am to discuss Citizens of London: The Americans Who Stood with Britain in Its Darkest, Finest Hour by Lynne Olson and February 10 at 10:30 am to discuss Song Yet Sung by James McBride.


Book Clubs are currently meeting both in person at the Library and on Zoom. This is subject to change. Please check our website for updates.

Free Covid Test Kits Courtesy of Westchester County

Westchester County has provided the Pelham Library with free Covid-19 home-testing kits for distribution to our community. Residents may pick up up to 2 kits per person during library hours while supplies last. Each box contains two nasal-swab antigen tests. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has extended the expiration date for these kits to January, 24, 2023.

This month the Junior League of Pelham will be here at the Library reading Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter by Kenard Pak. They will also be showing us how to make a winter picture frame. Hand-Stitch a Gingerbread Doll!

Join us to learn some basic hand-sewing techniques, and walk away with your own gingerbread doll! This program is for kids ages 8 and up.

This class is capped at 6 people, but a waitlist will be kept. Because of high demand, we ask that if you register and cannot attend, that you cancel with 48 hours notice.

Outdoor Story Time

Join us for our popular Story Time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children's books in which all children can see themselves represented... plus we have a lot of fun! Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. Story Time will be held outdoors throughout the year, but will be cancelled on days when the temperature is below 40 degrees at 9 a.m., or if it is raining. Cancellations will be posted on our website at the top of our homepage. You may also call the Library when we open at 10 a.m. to inquire.

Hours and Services

Current Library Hours are as follows:

  • Monday: 1pm-8pm
  • Tuesday: 10am-5pm
  • Wednesday: 10am-5pm
  • Thursday:10am-8pm
  • Friday: 10am-5pm
  • Saturday: 10am-4pm

  • The library building is open to patrons for browsing and checking out materials. Computers, printer, and study areas are also available to patrons. Social distancing and wearing masks is greatly appreciated.
  • We also continue to offer contactless, curbside pickup (you can place holds using the Westchester Library System app or through our online catalog.)
  • You can visit our digital library and select ebooks, audiobooks through Overdrive (including the Libby App) and Hoopla or stream movies through Kanopy.
  • Our librarians are always available to answer reference questions, give book recommendations, and provide technology help. Notary services are available by appointment.
