From Our Interim Artistic Director

In 2003, I walked through the doors of Colonial Presbyterian on Quivira for my first ever CYT Day Camp. Two years later, I played Prince John (pictured here…) in CYT East’s first EVER production of Robin Hood, directed by the one and only Gina Milbourn. How could I have known those early experiences would set in motion a life changing 18 years (and counting!) with this organization? To say that First Act has meant the world to me is an understatement. I have been involved with this organization at almost every level. To be asked to serve for the next year as Interim Artistic Director is one of the greatest honors of my life. It would be impossible to replace our beloved Gina, and I have no intention of trying! It’s my hope that I can bring my experience as an educator, a musician and performer, and an arts administrator to this role. My goal is to work to strengthen and improve our programming across the board - from our classes to our camps to our productions - all with full knowledge of the importance and strength of our community, our families, and our students. Thanks be to God that we are able to create great art in a great community for an even greater purpose! If you ever have any questions or concerns, I can always be reached at artisticdirector@firstactkc.org. I look forward to an exciting year of growth and creativity!
