BLACK PANTHER MAGAZINES (1968-1971)

We have recently acquired a small collection of Black Panther Magazines from 1968-1971, many of which prominently feature the artwork of Emory Douglas, who served as Minister of Culture for the Panthers until the mid 80's. These six issues cover a range of topics - from the Black Liberation Struggle to the death of George Jackson, the dangers of sickle cell anemia in the Black community, business boycotts, Bobby Seale on trial, and an issue dedicated to the film "Sweet Sweetback's Baadsasssss Song." $100-$125/each
STREET HEAT MAGAZINE

Published in the 1980s and 90s by the Up and Out of Poverty Now! Campaign and the Georgia Citizen's Coalition on Hunger, Street Heat was a grassroots effort designed to give marginalized voices an opportunity to speak about - and propose solutions for - the economic, racial, social and political oppressions they experienced. We have 2 issues, published in 1994 and 1995, $50/each.
CUBAN POSTERS

We have an eclectic mix of colorful Cuban film posters in the store, including several featuring Charlie Chaplin! These are original prints, and we only have one of each item available. $50 - $100

- Joan Didion, Slouching Towards Bethlehem

The fabric of democracy is always fragile everywhere because it depends on the will of citizens to protect it, and when they become scared, when it becomes dangerous for them to defend it, it can go very quickly.
- Margaret Atwood

Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another, "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .”
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.
