Sept. 30, 2020

Dear Chatham Hall Community,

Yesterday we were notified of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case affecting a School employee. This individual was on campus on Monday, however did not return to campus after being identified as having contact with a non-Chatham Hall individual who tested positive. This employee is not and has not been symptomatic, which reduces the chance of droplet infection. Following our campus protocols, we have instituted contact tracing and quarantined those confirmed as meeting the criteria for having been in contact with this individual. I cannot thank this employee enough for notifying us as quickly as possible, and for everyone involved for taking the precautions necessary to keep the community at large as safe as possible.

Outside of the individuals who received direct instruction to quarantine, we see no exposure risk to additional community members - whether student or adult - and will move forward with welcoming immediate household members to campus for weekend visits beginning Oct. 3 & 4. A reminder of the protocols for these visits will be forthcoming.

This is an unfortunate way to begin our week after the fall long weekend, but we remain fortunate to be on this campus and in this community. I have no doubt that each of us will continue to persevere, and that each one of us will remain vigilant in not only wearing our masks, social distancing, sanitizing our possessions, and washing our hands, but in monitoring for the symptoms of COVID-19 as well.

Please be in touch with Director of the Health Care Center Lynne Shelton or Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Hiltwine if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Rachel Connell
