2020-21 School Year Weekly E-News
Week of September 6
IMPORTANT REMINDERS PLEASE READ
  • Masks must be worn at all times in the building. Bandanas are not considered a mask and should not be worn when entering the building.

  • Please monitor everyone in your household for symptoms of COVID-19 and self-quarantine, as needed. Anyone who exhibits COVID-19 like symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 is asked to contact Patty McCarthy, School Nurse, at (224) 475-1552 or pmccarthy@stpatrick.org. Students who exhibit COVID-19 like symptoms, or have been exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19 or is experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms, should remain home. Remote Learning is always an option during this time.

  • Avoid large gatherings and parties. The larger the group and the newer the people students introduce into their social circle, the greater the risk that each of them accepts and potentially jeopardizes others as well as our ability to have In-Person Learning.

  • Limit travel. If you travel to one of the areas on the City of Chicago's Emergency Travel Order (Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas), students will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days prior to returning to In-Person Learning. Parents should contact Sergio Muro, Director of Student Services, at smuro@stpatrick.org if your son needs to self-quarantine and discuss a plan for Remote Learning during this time.

  • Provide honest and accurate information to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our school community. If you are contacted by a member of the Saint Patrick administration or Nurse Patty McCarthy for contact tracing purposes, we ask that you please cooperate to help contain any positive or probable COVID-19 cases and the need for us, as a school, to return to full Remote Learning.

  • Hair and Appearance: Hair should be neatly cut, no longer than collar length with limited length on top. Dyed hair, streaks, braids, cornrows, designs, or colored highlights are not acceptable. Students are to be clean shaven at all times (no mustaches, beards) unless accompanied by a note from a dermatologist. Students in violation may be suspended from school.
Return to School Checklist

  • Familiarize yourself with Safety Measures & Precautions. Please note: Freshmen and Sophomores should use the Main Entrance off Belmont Ave. Juniors, Seniors, Faculty and Staff should use the Atrium Entrance off the Belmont Parking Lot. Students should allow extra time in the morning for temperature and symptom checks. Students, faculty and staff should be able to answer no to the following questions before attending In-Person Learning:
  • Have you traveled internationally or domestically to an area with community spread in the last 14 days?
  • Have you come in close contact with anyone who has traveled internationally or domestically to an area with community spread in the last 14 days?
  • Have you had prolonged, close contact with or directly cared for someone who tested positive for or has been suspected of having COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
  • Do you have any symptoms of COVID-19 as outlined by the CDC (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea)?

  • Discuss importance of adhering to Social Distancing Guidelines. Masks must be worn at all times in the building (except when eating during Lunch Period). Students should be prepared with multiple masks and personal hand sanitizer for In-Person Learning days. Students should be reminded to wash their hands frequently and stay to the right in hallways, maintaining social distance as much as possible.

  • Remember Dress Code for In-Person Learning days consists of khaki colored and style shorts or khaki style pants with Saint Patrick polo purchased from SchoolBelles and belt. Gym shoes are permitted. School ID's must be worn with school-issued lanyards at all times on In-Person Learning days.

  • Read the letter from Quest Food Management Services regarding menu, service modifications, and safety and sanitation enhancements and practices for the 2020-21 School Year. For more information about Cafeteria Services, including how to set up a MealTime Account and a September Lunch Menu, click here.
Remote Learning Behavior
  • Students are expected to be engaged and avoid distracting behavior.
  • All language and communication must remain appropriate for school.
  • Students are expected to be appropriately groomed, and in their school uniform polo shirt while on camera.
  • Students should be seated at a desk or table with proper lighting so their faces can be seen.
  • When logging in, students must use their school email and first and last name.
  • Students may not take screenshots or otherwise record any part of a Remote Learning class without the prior permission of the teacher.
  • All work submitted during Remote Learning must be the student’s own.
  • Students are expected to act in accordance with the Student Handbook for all Remote Learning.
Health Form Reminders
MEDICAL REPORTS
All Freshman students should have their medical records, updated immunization information, vision and dental screenings, and a COURT-ISSUED (not photocopied or scanned) birth certificate turned in as soon as possible.

Click here for the necessary State of Illinois Medical Forms.

SENIOR BOOSTER VACCINATION
Senior families who have not already done so are asked to submit proof of their sons' meningitis booster vaccination.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please contact Christopher Perez '91 at cperez@stpatrick.org.
School Cleaning
Fogging & Disinfecting cleaning will take place every Wednesday at 7 pm. In order to complete this process, no one is allowed in the building during the hours Cosmopolitan Cleaning Services will be performing the service.

Cleaning & Surface cleaning (including, but not limited to, high touch surfaces such as doorknobs, desks, railing, tables, etc.) is being performed every day. Students are asked to immediately leave the building following the conclusion of the school day as the building will be locked after 3 pm to allow for daily cleaning and disinfecting.

As an added precaution, Chicago Disinfection applied an anti-microbial coating to all surfaces. The coating was applied with electrostatic spray technology which positively charges the chemical causing it to "wrap around and stick" to surfaces. This treatment in non-toxic and is proven to kill microbes (viruses, germs, bacteria) for up to 30 days. We believe taking this extra step in addition to our standard cleaning and disinfection will further protect our students, faculty, staff and Saint Patrick community.
