That got your attention, didn't it? During the pandemic, we've all become more aware of how important open space, trails and parks are to our physical and mental health. Since we're approaching the end of August (only three more weeks left this month!), we want to remind you of the places that you can go outside to enjoy some fresh air and exercise while maintaining a safe social distance. Please remember to wear your mask anytime you are in close proximity to others so that we can Stop the Spread of COVID-19.

Sycamore Island is open Fridays through Sundays, from 6:00 am to 8:30 pm. The property features more than 600-acres of open space, multiple ponds, river frontage, three covered picnic shelters, and miles of dirt roads for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Canoe and kayak rentals are available on a first come first served basis. Entry fees are $9 per car and $6 per trailer. Season passes are available. The River Center grounds are now open daily. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday through Sunday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Restrooms and picnic tables are available. Enjoy a walk around the 1/2 mile Hidden Homes Trail, watching for wildlife along the way. The River Center is also a great starting point for a longer walk on the Lewis S. Eaton Trail towards Woodward Park. Entrance to the River Center is free. Click here for more information.

Guided Kayak Tours are available now through early October. This program has been modified to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Downriver tours require shuttling Participants are responsible for providing enough vehicles and drivers to shuttle their group between sites. (E.g. a group of two must have two vehicles and drivers, a group of four must have at least two drivers with vehicles able to seat four people). We are not allowing individual participants to register for downriver River Tours in 2020 due to shuttling requirements. Registrations must be for two or more participants. Click here to view and register for upcoming dates.
