Dear SMCS Parents,

During this time of Lent, we are called to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. One form of almsgiving is being kind to others. Kindness means being friendly, generous, and considerate. Kindness calls us to act with benevolence.

SMCS strives to have a safe, secure, and peaceful school environment for all students and staff. We need your help to promote kindness in our school community. Here are a few ways to help:

  • Model and practice kind communication at home.
  • Be kind in your communication during phone calls, in email and text messages, and on social media.

  • Recognize and praise kind behavior at home.
  • Discuss works of kindness during meals.

  • Model being kind by responding to hurtful or difficult situations with love and forgiveness.

  • Monitor your children's TV, computer, video games, and social media for unkind behavior.

As Catholics, we are called to care for one another and for the world God created by practicing kindness in our daily lives. Please take some time to talk about kindness with your children over Spring Break.

Blessings,
Dr. Kathleen Cox
