Yale's first Dolphin Tank pitch event went off without a hitch! On behalf of Yale and the amplifyHERscience team, co-hosting a Dolphin Tank was just a pipe dream a year ago, but last week it became a reality. WashU's Equalize2021 Recap & Call for 2022 Applicants

Equalize is a virtual mentor program and pitch competition designed to take national action around the disparity of women academic inventors forming university startups: equalize.wustl.edu. 400 participants throughout the event and that we had 2 participants from Yale this year (1 in medtech, and 1 for therapeutics), as well as one in therapeutics last year.  

Our Yale colleagues, Angelique (L) and Anjelica (R) presented at the event and did wonderfully!

The Equalize team is already calling for academic women inventors for next year - applications are due 11/10/21.

The Generation & Commercialization of Innovation: Who is in the Room/Lab?
Fiona Murray is the Associate Dean of Innovation and Inclusion at the MIT School of Management and William Porter (1967) Professor of Entrepreneurship. She is the co-director of MIT’s Innovation Initiative and Faculty Director of the MIT Legatum Center for Entrepreneurship and Development. Fiona is an associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. She received her BA ’89 and MA ‘90 from the University of Oxford in Chemistry. She subsequently moved to the United States and earned an AM ’92 and PhD ’96 from Harvard University in applied sciences.

Murray is an international policy expert on the transformation of investments in science and technology into deep-tech start-up ventures that solve significant global challenges and create national advantage – from defense and security to health, food and water security.

Initiated in 2017, The Yale Women Faculty Forum created these “Seed Grants” to identify innovative ways to support the WFF mission by investing in the diverse work of faculty and student scholars at Yale. We aim to expand and encourage research in areas of gender study and build visibility for issues and policies relating to gender in higher education. Grants range from $200-$2000.
