Night at the Theatre
Support LP theatre before Sectional competition!
Please join the Lake Park Theatre Department for an exciting Night at the Theatre on Tuesday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at East Campus. The Lake Park IHSA Drama Teams will present Hamlet II for Group Interpretation and The Dream of the Burning Boy for Contest Play. The first performance begins in room 226, and admission is free!
Lake Park’s 2022 IHSA Contest Drama The Dream of the Burning Boy by David West Read explores how a student’s death affects a suburban high school. Guidance Counselor Steve (sophomore Akul Sharma) is concerned about the mental health of English teacher Larry Morrow (sophomore Sebastian Marquez) who was the last person to see his student Dane (freshman Anthony Johnson) alive. Larry keeps having dreams about their final meeting, and insists that he's fine, but annoyed that many of his students are skipping classes for "trauma leave." Dane's sister, Rachel (Rylee Fulmer), misses her brother, but also feels upset at those whom she believes are using Dane's death to call attention to themselves. This includes Chelsea (sophomore Gia Zatos), who was Dane's girlfriend - although Rachel suspects she was actually cheating on him with Dane's best friend Kyle (senior Brett Tobler). When Dane's mother Andrea (sophomore Brinly Wilson) reaches out to the school for answers, bonds are broken and secrets are revealed changing the lives of the characters forever. You don’t want to miss this emotional performance directed by Mrs. Sara Keith.

Athletic and Activities Night
April 6 orientation program to welcome Class of 2026 students and families.
|
|
An Athletic and Activities Orientation Night for incoming families will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at East Campus. After a brief introduction and spirit rally in the gymnasium, families can then attend up to three breakout sessions throughout the building. Be sure to visit the Activities Fair in the student cafeteria or stop by the Athletic Program information tables located in the main hallways to meet the sponsors and coaches and learn more about all the great programs Lake Park has to offer!
The orientation event is designed to benefit students and parents/guardians by learning about Lake Park's athletics and activities programs in advance of the next school year. Attendees can have their questions answered by coaches, sponsors, and students currently in the program. This provides Class of 2026 students with time to consider their choices prior to the beginning of the 2022-23 school year. Athletic Boosters Still Recruiting Board Members
It’s not too late to bring your talent to the Booster Board for this year or next!
|
|
The Lake Park Athletic Boosters Board is excited to announce the return to monthly IN-PERSON meetings where members can continue brainstorming innovative ways to enhance the experience of student-athletes!
As with most support organizations, the cycle of volunteer leaders changes, and this school year is no different. Currently, several important positions are still available this year, and the search is on for new parent volunteers who want to help their children’s athletic programs for the upcoming school year. This program is essential to the LPHS Athletic programs, and NEEDS NEW FAMILIES to volunteer to keep it running for incoming students.
Did you know that there are many perks to becoming a Booster Club Board Member?
As an incentive for joining, receive an Athletic pass membership (2 adults and 2 non-LPHS children) to athletic events/games. Also, graduating seniors of Booster Club Members have the option to participate in the Lake Park Booster Club Scholarship (due Tuesday, April 12)!
Please join the Boosters at the upcoming meetings on the second Monday of the month: March 14 and April 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Campus Community Room. For more information about how to serve on the Board, or become a Booster Club member, contact Booster Club President Kathy Pittman at kpittman6815@gmail.com.
