ATTORNEY GENERAL ACTIONS
COMBATTING DISCRIMINATION & HATE SPEECH

  • Twenty state attorneys general called on Facebook to better prevent messages of hate, bias and disinformation from spreading, and said the company needed to provide more help to users facing online abuse.

STUDENT BORROWER RELIEF

  • Illinois AG Raoul and Alaska AG Clarkson led a bipartisan coalition of 30 attorneys general in urging the U.S. Senate to provide relief for all federal student loan borrowers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

  • Utah AG Reyes announced a landmark settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency that will provide more than $360 million for remediation efforts in historic mining districts that pose an ongoing threat to Utah’s waterways and environment.

MEDICAID FRAUD

  • Florida AG Moody announced a multistate, multimillion-dollar agreement against a national pharmaceutical company, settling allegations of kickback violations.

COVID-19 RESOURCES

  • Nevada AG Ford and the State of Nevada run an official website on COVID-19 where you can read more state-specific information and find a list of testing locations.

CONSUMER PROTECTION

  • Missouri AG Schmitt previously announced that his office has filed a lawsuit against Brian Scroggs and the following timeshare exit companies under his control: Vacation Consulting Services LLC, VCS Communications, LLC, The Transfer Group, LLC, and Real Travel L.L.C.

COVID-19 RELIEF EFFORTS

  • Lowe’s contributed $55 million to nonprofit Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to give out as small business emergency relief grants, with $30 million to focus on small businesses owned or led by minorities and women and $25 million to support businesses in rural communities.

Former Connecticut AG and Chief Deputy Announce New Firm Jepsen Rowthorn

George Jepsen and Perry Rowthorn have launched the law firm Jepsen Rowthorn, LLP.  From this new and nimble platform, they will continue to assist clients in responding to -- and avoiding -- investigations and litigation by state attorneys general and other government enforcers and regulators.  In serving clients, George draws upon his long history as an esteemed leader in government, including two successful terms as Connecticut Attorney General, and Perry upon nearly twenty years of government enforcement experience, including five as Connecticut’s Chief Deputy Attorney General. George and Perry are well-known and respected in the attorney general space, having played key roles in a number of nationally significant multistate investigations, litigations and settlements.
