Dear School Parents,

August has arrived and we are enthusiastically preparing both campuses for learning, prayer and friendship this fall. Thank you for your continued, thoughtful questions to [email protected] and for your many messages of support and gratitude.

While we are committed to safe, in-person learning this school year for our teachers and students, we understand that some parents may prefer remote learning this fall in order to best meet the unique and personal needs of their family. At this time we are evaluating two options for delivery of e-learning: a centralized provider through the Archdiocese, or the possibility (pending local demand by grade level) of a remote learning plan guided by Saints JFX faculty members. In order to adequately plan around family preferences, we seek a response from each and every SFX and SJ family at this time to our Family Learning Preference Survey.

If you have not already done so, please take a moment to indicate here if your child will join us for in person/in classroom learning, or if he or she will participate via the remote learning platform. Once you "enroll" your student in remote learning, he or she will commit to an entire trimester of e-learning (from August 26th through the end of November). We ask that once your family makes its selection(s), that you remain committed to your choice as our design of staffing and resources around both remote and in-person learning will be established and firm. As required by the Archdiocese of Chicago, all families who select remote learning as their preferred platform this fall remain on the same tuition and fee structure as those who join us on campus.

If you have already provided a response to the Family Learning Preference Survey and have since decided to opt for an alternate selection, please email the office at [email protected] to clarify your selection. Please submit your selection for each child in your household no later than Thursday evening, August 6th.

Based on parent feedback to date and a strong preference for remote learning to be led locally, we are working on the design of the SFX-SJ remote learning platform option for those who choose to participate in e-learning. Once we have received all family responses to the learning survey and selections are complete, we will confirm the feasibility of building this local option as demand and staffing allow.

After August 6th, cohorts will begin to be assembled and teaching assignments designed around the programs our families indicate, and additional movement will no longer be accommodated. Thank you for your understanding and support of our need for adequate time to plan thoughtfully and prepare safely this fall!

I invite you to review a number of newly developed FAQs here in response to some of the more common questions we are receiving at [email protected]. As shared previously, an exhaustive list of FAQs continues to be housed at https://www.stjosephwilmette.com/reopening-faqs. We look forward to sharing additional updates with you this month as we approach our return to school on August 26th. In the meantime, I hope that you continue to enjoy these joyful summer days with your children.

Many thanks,
