Main Street Nevada is currently participating in a Market study of the Nevada Community. Earlier this Month two surveys were distributed. One to business owners, and one to consumers. The survey was created and written at the state level and was composed of questions to target our communities specifics. We had over 550 Responses! The market study committee is currently reviewing the information received, and will present its findings and the next actionable steps in October.

SBDC SHOP SOONER: The Shop Sooner Campaign is an initiative created to convince consumers to “shop sooner” for the holidays. Businesses are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and the unfortunate disruptions that came along with it. By convincing consumers to “shop sooner,” we can hopefully help alleviate some of the supply chain and other issues that businesses face during the busy holiday season and that were affected by COVID-19. Consumers will also experience benefits of shopping sooner through saving money on shipping, more inventory and less stress that accumulates during the holidays amongst many other benefits. We will use the hashtags #shopsooner and #buynowgiftlater to track shares and promotions. Timeline: Campaign runs throughout the year. Resources such as videos, social media images (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), social media verbiage, press release, logos, flyer, signage etc. can be found  here.
Who is Main Street America?

Main Street America has been helping revitalize older and historic commercial districts for 40 years. Today, it is a network of more than 1,600 neighborhoods and communities, rural and urban, who share both a commitment to place and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. Since 1980, communities participating in the program have leveraged more than $85.43 billion in new public and private investment, generated 672,333 net new jobs and 150,079 net new businesses, and rehabilitated more than 295,348 buildings. Main Street America is a program of the nonprofit National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Main Street

NEVADA FIRE DEPARTMENT HANDING OUT SHOWER STRIPS
As part of its Community Risk Reduction efforts, the Nevada Fire Department will be handing out FREE shower strips to older individuals and asking that they place the strips in their showers and/or bathtubs to improve the likelihood of them not slipping or falling while bathing.
“Slips, trips and falls are our No. 1 most frequent call for service,” said Jessica Melton, the Department’s Community Risk Reduction Officer.
Thanks to a $500 grant received through Memorial Lutheran Church’s grant program, the Nevada Fire Department was able to work with Menards to purchase 24 packages of shower strips. The strips, which are adhesive on one side, are ideal for applying to the base of your shower or bathtub. They provide surface texture to help prevent slips.
“We wanted to do something this year to focus specifically on the safety of our senior community,” Fire Chief Ray Reynolds said.
Each older resident in need of these simple, but very important, shower strips will receive eight strips. If you are a Nevada resident, age 60 or older, who could benefit from a set of shower strips, please come to the Nevada Fire Station, 935 Lincoln Highway, between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. on either Wednesday, Sept. 15, or Wednesday, Sept. 29, to receive them.
