Shermies Give Back! - Fun[d] @ the Fr8

"Shermies Give Back!" was a student-driven philanthropy event hosted by the Department of Institutional Advancement, in collaboration with Student Affairs, in order to promote and create a culture of philanthropy among Sherman College students. For a donation of just $1, students were able to spend the evening at a local Spartanburg favorite, Fr8yard, where they enjoyed food, live music, gift card giveaways and a fun time with their fellow Shermies. All donations went toward the Sherman Pride Student Emergency Fund (SPSEF) which was created to aid students during times of financial hardship. Learn more about the SPSEF.
Interns Celebrate Clinic Journey Coming to a Close

On May 26, a group of clinic interns celebrated the completion of their journey in the on-campus clinic by "ringing out" during a group bell-ringing ceremony. "Ringing Out" takes place when an intern completes all of their clinic requirements to graduate. During this time, people who have supported them on the road to becoming doctors of chiropractic join them as they ring a bell to signify their time as interns coming to a close. Congratulations to the most recent interns to ring out!
Regent Feature: Bharon Hoag Shares His Passion for Chiropractic

This month we are featuring Sherman College Regent Bharon Hoag. Although not a chiropractor, Bharon has been an advocate for chiropractic for more than 24 years. He has served the profession in many capacities over this time, but currently has a non-profit organization called OneChiropractic. This non-profit works to advocate the increased understanding and utilization of chiropractic around the world and is funded by contributors worldwide.

OneChiropractic's main two projects are working to allow chiropractors to join the military as commissioned offices and creating a Chiropractic Defense Council (CDC) that will protect the rights of chiropractic across the globe. "It is no secret the pandemic has changed our world," Hoag shared with us recently. "This change has created amazing opportunities but also very real threats for chiropractic. The Chiropractic Defense Council will ensure we take advantage of these opportunities as well as eliminate the threats." Learn more about OneChiropractic.

The Regent Program provides for the advancement of Sherman College. Its members support the college with annual gifts of $1,000 or more, and the collective financial commitment of its members has been a major source of support for the college's annual fund since 1997. Health Center Offers CBCT Services to Local D.C.s

Aiming to increase Upstate South Carolina chiropractors' access to the latest technology in upper cervical spinal imaging, Sherman College of Chiropractic is now allowing local doctors to refer patients for imaging using its cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) unit.

Sherman College's on-campus Chiropractic Health Center offers four appointments per week to local D.C.s. The cost to the doctor's office is $260, which includes a radiology report from a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (DACBR), a certified specialist in diagnostic imaging. The referring doctor will receive a CD with the images and basic software to view them. Get the details on our website.

On May 25, Sherman College, in collaboration with the Alumni Association, hosted a virtual event for all alumni, current students, faculty and staff. The event gave attendees the unique opportunity to hear from featured guests, the Pioneer Class of 1976, as they shared stories and memories from their time at Sherman over 45 years ago along with great insight to help chiropractors in the future.
