Good evening GRES Families,

Please submit a SHOUT OUT (see below) for a staff member you have noticed going above and beyond!

In PE this week, our students learned about bike safety. See the pamphlet here.

Homecoming week begins on Monday. See the Spirit days listed below and follow us on social media for snaps of our best dressed each day! :) We will be walking in the parade on Thursday, 9/30; please join us in the gravel bus loop to the South of Yorkville High School! We'll have a banner this year to walk behind and bags of candy for students to hand out/toss. Parents must walk in their parade with their student. Parade line up starts at 5:00pm and parade steps off at 6:00pm.

Grande Reserve Elementary School is also being featured at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, 9/27/21 at 7:00pm. We're showing a short video which tells a story of what our school looks like since the Pandemic; please join us and represent our rockstar GRES family!

Safety drills will continue into the coming weeks.

We will continue to adjust what lunch looks like in an effort to reduce or eliminate having to quarantine students due to social distancing requirements. The goal is for all students to be 6 feet apart from their closest neighbor. This means that if students stay in their seat during lunch, we should not have to quarantine students due to lunch time.

And a few important reminders we want to bring to your attention:
  • Please do not park in between the entrance and exit to the GRES parking lot.
  • In alignment with our current policies (not new), students may NOT bring things to distribute for special events (birthdays, parties, good-byes, etc.).
  • If you need to deliver lunch for your child(ren), please know items can only be dropped off for your own child(ren). You may not provide food for other students.
  • Please send an extra mask with your child in a ziploc bag that can be kept in their backpack should they need to change it part way through the day.

We appreciate any feedback you wish to provide as we believe we are a team working towards the same goal! :)

Sincerely,
Michele Breyne
GRES Principal

Meet & Greet

Hi! I am Brooklyn Geers and this is my first year as a vision itinerant for Yorkville SD 115. Prior to working at Yorkville, I was a teacher of the visually impaired for SASED. Currently, I am getting my Master's Degree in Early Intervention for Children with Sensory Impairments. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, and shopping. I am looking forward to a great school year!
Hi! This is my second year in the Yorkville school district, but my 15th year teaching. I've taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grade ELA/SS, 8th grade ELA and developmental math and English at the community college level. I am settling in here at GRES as a 6th grade math teacher. Teaching is a second career for me. Prior to working in the classroom I was an account coordinator for a sports marketing firm and IT project coordinator for a hospital system in North Carolina. When I'm not teaching, I love to be outside. I kayak, paddle board, hike, walk, run, mountain bike, fly fish, snowboard, cross country ski, go camping, travel, cook/bake, build things and most of all love spending time with my friends and family. I have 4 adult children and 2 grandkids. They all live in the area, which is great! I'm happy to be here at GRES and looking forward to getting to know everyone better!
SHOUT OUTS!!!
We would like to continue celebrating and awarding shout outs to any GRES Staff nominated!!! Stay tuned for updates on social media.

Students or parents can nominate a teacher to receive a "SHOUT OUT!" for their hard work or special gesturer by sharing a reason(s) why they make school a wonderful place to be! Your input can be shared by completing the Staff Shout Outs or you can email it to [email protected] or [email protected].

Thank you for helping spread joy!

We are looking forward to sharing your responses!

Arrival & Dismissal
REMINDERS:
  • It may also be helpful and reduce waiting time if families can review with their child(ren) as part of the morning routine how they are getting home each day.
  • For the families that walk or bike-ride with their child(ren) to school, please stay back at the yellow gate. This area is the kiss-and-drop and pick-up zone for families. Families should not be on the blacktop drive that leads around to the back of the building or in the grassy area by the bike racks.
  • Families that pick-up and drop-off via the car line:
  • students must exit on the curb side,
  • parents do not exit the vehicle, and
  • feel free to make a bright sign to help your child(ren) recognize the car.
  • The green check times out after completing the daily health certification; please take a screenshot to prevent having to do it again!
