Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
"Jesus looked at him and said, You are Simon the son of John,
you will be called Cephas" - which is translated Peter.
Weekly message from Fr. Mike
The saintly Jesuit Fr. Pedro Arrupe affirmed that the essence of the human vocation is to fall in love with God. He writes: “What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, what you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.”

The scriptures for this weekend remind us that our most basic vocation is to fall in love – with God and all God has created to draw us into divine life. Like Samuel and the disciples, like couples who marry, like every person who believes in their vocation, cultivating the decision to love will fill the rest of our lives – and more. (Sr. Mary M. McGlone)

2nd collection this weekend
Our second collection this weekend supports the Catholic Home Missions Appeal.

Over 40% of dioceses United States and its territories are considered mission territories, because they are unable to fund essential pastoral activities needed in their communities. Your support funds religious education, seminary formation, lay ministry training, and other programs that build vibrant faith communities right here in the United States. You may donate using the envelope in your monthly packet, or by logging in to Online Giving and choosing the "Second collections" fund.
This week's featured advertiser is Cornerstone Home Improvements. Our advertisers pay the cost for our parish app, a large portion of our website, and 100% of our Sunday bulletin costs. Please patronize them!
