Candles for Ukraine
With war now raging in Ukraine, home to many of Christiana Trapani’s relatives, the Catholic business owner from Sturgeon Bay came up with the idea of making and selling what is called the Ukraine Candle. Trapani said 100% of the profits from the candles, made of blue and yellow wax, colors of the Ukrainian flag, with a vanilla scent, will support relief efforts in Ukraine. Read more …
Stations of the Cross
Vermont artist Janet McKenzie drew inspiration from Black and Indigenous people when painting Jesus in her “Stations of the Cross” series. The 16” x 24” prints, on display at Old St. Joseph Church of St. Norbert College Parish this Lenten season, are attached by string to candle sconces on both sides of the church. Read more …
Queen of Hearts Chapel
Mary Ann Ristow and her late husband, Delano, had a small brown chapel dedicated to Mary, Queen of Our Hearts built in 2008. The chapel is proof that RIstow is here today, at age 86, because of her mother’s prayers and the Mother of God’s intervention. Read more …

Doodling in faith
Gabby Gauchay began doodling images of the saints after she and her husband, Jon, began a daily study of the saints as part of their prayer life. Those doodles are now featured in the 2022 calendar produced by the Wasatch Deanery Council of Catholic Women in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Read more …

A Pew Research Center study, ​​published in a report titled “Black Catholics in America,” looks at the worshipping practices of Black Catholics. SCHOOL FUNDRAISER: St. Thomas Aquinas Academy’s 40th annual auction will be held on Sunday, April 3, in the high school gym, 1200 Main St., Marinette. Doors open at 11 a.m. for bidder registration and the silent auction. The live auction will begin at 12:30 p.m. Food booths will be open throughout the day. A spring raffle, sponsored by Thielen Funeral Home, is being held in conjunction with the auction. Raffle tickets are available at both the Marinette and Peshtigo campuses.
 
PASSION PLAY: “ALL RISE! The Northeast Wisconsin Passion Play,” a dramatic musical, will be presented live on-stage, Thursday through Sunday, April 7-10, at Xavier Fine Arts Theatre, 1600 W. Prospect Ave., Appleton. The production is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $13 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $9 for students. DCCW ASSEMBLY: The Green Bay Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) will hold its assembly titled “Jesus Calls Us by Our Name” Saturday, April 23, at St. Mary’s of the Lake, 15232 County Road F, Lakewood. This gathering is open to all women, not just current members of the DCCW. Mass will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by registration and a continental breakfast. Speakers will be Fr.. Mark Mleziva, diocesan vocation director, and Amy Deibert, diocesan young adult ministry director. The assembly will also include a luncheon, rosary for vocations, business meeting and an exhibit area. The Green Bay DCCW Service Commission will collect baby items for “Walking with Moms in Need.” Registration, due by April 8, is $23 per person or $100 for a group of five.
