Schedule your Packer Appointments TODAY!
If you plan to purchase any market livestock for the coming year, please make appointments for each market animal you anticipate purchasing NOW. Packers are already filling up as far as the end of next year.
This year, all livestock exhibitors will be required to provide confirmation of packer appointments for every market animal that they tag in. These confirmations will need to include the name of the company, date for processing and the number of each species. The Junior Livestock Committee will verify all appointments. Youth who do not make appointments with packers prior to tagging animals in will not be eligible to tag in, and therefore, will not be eligible to show at the Otero County Fair.
All 4-H members planning to exhibit livestock at the Otero County Fair or New Mexico State Fair need to attend one of the scheduled tag days, In addition to bringing the animal(s), 4-H members must provide copies of bill of sale on tag day.
REMEMBER, please bring COPIES of all documents with you to tag day as they will be kept to attach to entry forms. If you have more than one animal on a bill of sale, you need to bring one copy for each animal. DNA will be pulled from any livestock to be exhibited at the New Mexico State Fair on tag days. Please contact Sid, 437-0231 if you have any questions regarding tag days.
