October 15, 2020
Dear Lovejoy Families,

I hope that all of you enjoyed your fall break. It was nice to see everyone back this week, and we have enjoyed some more of our students joining us for the second quarter. For our first - fourth grade parents, your child's report card will be available in Power School tomorrow. If you need any help accessing it, please contact Sondra Payne at 469-742-8083. As a reminder, your child's teacher will be having a conference with you to discuss areas of strength and areas of growth for your child. This is a great time to ask questions and learn ways to help your child at home. As a reminder, Kindergarten parents will have their conference in January.

I hope that you have a safe and restful weekend. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

We are so excited to get this campaign started this year! The teachers and staff need more encouragement now than ever before!

Starting October 19th there will be a tub at the front entrance of the school to collect letters. Please encourage your children to write letters of thanks or draw pictures for any staff member that has made an impact on them. This is also a time for parents to show their appreciation to our amazing Lovejoy Elementary Team.

We will be collecting letters until November 13th!

Reminder About Masks!
Parents I am needing your help in making sure that our kids are coming to school in a clean mask daily. We can face a new battle that involves infection around our little noses and mouths if we reuse a mask from the previous day or don't handle our masks with a level of cleanliness while at school. Impetigo is a contagious infection that first looks like a sore that can develop around the nose and mouth, then blistering and draining which require a doctor's visit and medication.   I know this is a new challenge for us and the children are doing a fantastic job keeping their masks on at the appropriate times as well as washing hands.  Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks, Nurse Debbie! 972.469.8132.

Extra Clothes for the Clinic
If you have any pants, leggings, or shorts that your student has outgrown, we could use them in the nurse's clinic for back up clothes reserve. We are in need of boys and girls sizes 5-6, 7-8, and 10-12. Thank you for your help!

Art Sparks

Art Sparks is...

A CELEBRATION of the visual arts focusing on elementary school students. An art appreciation program which exposes over 6000 Allen school children and adults to great works of art.

An EXPLORATION of what is seen with one’s eyes, as well as with one’s heart and intellect. Students use not only their eyes, but also their intellect and heart to put into words thoughts about what a work of art means on a personal level.

A COLLABORATION of city local sponsorship and citizen talent. ArtSparks is sponsored by the Allen Arts Alliance and staffed by dedicated community volunteers. Volunteers include parents, grandparents, retired educators, and local business leaders among others.

We are excited to announce that Art Sparks WILL be returning this year! We have a great ONLINE version of the program that provides an up-close and informative look at Art & Art History.

We would love to have parents take advantage of presenting to your child's class. There will be a total of four presentations for the school year. These will be done virtually. You will need to be comfortable with ZOOM and screen sharing. All of the material will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering for your child’s class please contact Christina Broyles or click below!
